Pub kicked you out after last orders? Looking for somewhere to carry on the party? Whether you’re having too much fun to go home or just want to divert your friends/ workmates/ hangers on away from your place and towards a late night bar, here’s a handy solution to the late night bar quest.
The Solution: Marathon Kebab HouseThe Area: CamdenFancy a few late night drinks and a bit of after party atmosphere in Camden? North London residents head to Marathon Kebab House for late night drinking.
Buy a kebab and a can of Stella and kick back at one of the simple wooden tables in their small back room where you can enjoy the live jazz, and any other weird and wonderful live music performances, on Friday and Saturday nights from midnight to 3am. A great spot for those late night moments when hunger takes over but you don’t want the night to end just yet.
Why you should go:It’s basic, cheap and handy. Plus the music is pretty good, although that could be the drink talking. There’s also a space between the tables at Marathon Kebab House not all that much bigger than a postage stamp, but just about big enough to pass as a dancefloor at one in the morning.
Who you’ll find there:Camden musos nursing their beer and looking for anyone who’ll listen to a monologue on what was great about the Eighties, teenage new ravers in neon draped around each other and looking at you sceptically through their eyeliner, and jazz aficionados nodding their drowsy heads with their eyes closed. Until, that is, one person starts dancing, and then before you know it the entire room is joining in.
How to find it:Marathon Kebab House is on Chalk Farm Road, near the Chalk Farm tube end, but within staggering distance of Camden.
