Don't bother. You're in the city surrounded by enough options not to waste your time getting disappointed with this one. A group of 10 went for lunch for a birthday. Having per-ordered our food, you'd expect it to all arrive together. Think again. Half way through our meals, the birthday girl gets her burger.

The drinks were more ice than drink, the stilton and port burger was less cheesy than my feet and the fish was harder than the battered wooden table we were sat at.

The 10% service was quickly removed from our bill.

Hopefully I'll save you from a bad experience. We won't be returning.

Absolutely disgusted by the treatment I received here. Turned up at a friend's birthday, and was ID'd at bar. Being 8 years above legal age, and not having ID apart from a passport which I do not take out with me for obvious reasons, I was refused even a soft drink. Upon returning to the party, the bouncer entered the private area and asked me to leave straight away. He was very aggressive and threatening in his manner, and made me feel like a common criminal. Even after agreeing to leave, I was almost jostled by him when trying to say goodbye to the birthday host, and felt the situation flaring up even though I was not creating a problem. Not wanting to judge the bar and its policies, as they obviously need to comply with law, I think they should focus on the real problem here; their active promotion of cheap drinks to get people through the door and their unnecessarily heavy handed staff.

ace bar if your a hot lady, not so great if your not as you will probably have to wait 30 minutes to get served by the bar staff. When you do get served the cocktails are decent although a bit sugar filled, foods pretty good and the venue is very good. Biggest draw back is unfortunately its generally full of drunken idiots

We hired Mary Jane's for our birthday party earlier this month, and have nothing but positive feedback to give. The staff were friendly, efficient and extremely professional (you get to know what to expect after ten years of hiring various places, and our expectations were surpassed on every level). Everything went so well. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was, and how delicious the canapés were. The bar's own DJ was so accommodating with all our requests, and very professional. We highly recommend Mary Jane's for anyone seeking a well-located party venue with sumptuous surroundings and great staff.

Lively crowd, yes some drunken idiots, but where in london doesn't have their quota, plus the location is in the heart of the insurance district! An industry known for its drinking! most of all a fun night. A good mix of music for those who want a relaxed and fun evening and aren't obssessed with looking fabulously cool and trendy. A shame they don't have a dance floor.

If your idea of a good night out is being surrounded by drunken idiots (male and female) trying to dance to crappy 70s/80s music then this is the place for you.

this place is a complete hole.
I went in on the tuesday afternoon to book a table for 10 to 15 people.

the barman helped me out and told me someone would call me to confirm the booking.Living in the uk for 10 years Ive learnt that when a company says they will call you back, they wont.

no one called, and when i phoned on the day of the booking to confirm everything was ok, a very rude lady on the phone told me i shouldnt book tables with the barmen becuase they dont know the schedule. Basically, she was telling me its my problem the booking stuffed up, not theirs.

with 15 people coming to my leaving drinks we had to still go to mary janes as it was too late to get a hold of everyone and change the venue.

the rest of the night was a stuff up, as the place was bedlam, getting a drink from the bar takes about 15 to 20 minutes and only pretty ladies get seved first.the drinks were over priced to and myself and everyone i work with vowed never to go back there.

complete hole.

Hmmm. Suits being flirty in the city, Ilovecocktails? Who'da thunk it!! I went to this venue for a party and thought it had a really clevel layout. The decor was really fascinating with lots of cheeky prints and nic-naks. The drinks were well-kept and there was an excellent range of top-end spirits. The staff were knowledgable and able to adapt mixes and suggest drinks. The food was tasty.
It is a (teensy, toned down and citified) bit sleazy and wild, but what would you expect of somewhere with a bit of a deliberate 'cheeky' character in the decor? What would you expect on a Friday night in office-land? A definite venue for 'character' in the samey world of city bars.

We went here for a girls night out expecting a really special place after seeing various reviews which had all given it 5 stars. Maybe its because we had high expectations, but we thought the bar was pretty average and definitely not the classiest of places! No matter what direction you look in, there'll be a sleazy man ready to wink at you.

On a positive note, the cocktails are delicious!

The name of this establishment is a little misleading. In actuality, Mary Jane's serves alcohol. And what fantastic alcaholic drinks they are! I stuck the yummy house specialty cocktail, which contains champagne, rose petal vodka, and watermelon. I also tasted my friend's Mint Chocolate Martini, which was tasty too. The plate of greasy meat simosas was the just the thing we needed to help absorb the copious amounts of alcahol we drank.
