The ViewLondon Review
Mews of Mayfair celebrates British dining at its best in a truly stunning setting. The VenueA deliciously feminine space has been created for the Mews of Mayfair first floor restaurant, with milky white walls fluttering with silver butterflies, tiny porcelain tea sets and cream leather chairs. The overall feel is of a rather grand tea parlour, but in fact it makes a very elegant setting for any meal.
Upstairs, those seeking a unique venue for private dining will love the Chef’s dining room, with its window into the busy kitchens. Papered with an enlarged copy of an old map of the British Empire, it seats up to 16 people and certainly has the wow factor.
The AtmosphereDiners at Mews of Mayfair tend to be rather quiet. This isn't because they have little to say for themselves, it's merely down to the fact that the food is so utterly delicious. The respectful silence is broken only by the very pleasant staff, who dip from table to table offering advice and insider knowledge.
The FoodA very reasonably priced tasting menu gives an overview of the dishes on offer at Mews of Mayfair and is a great excuse to treat yourself to a seriously decadent dining experience. The very best of British food is celebrated here and the menu includes classic dishes that have been touched by Britain’s more exotic influences, such as the seared scallop in its little pot of kedgeree, and the delicately curried foie gras.
The DrinkMews has put together a solid wine list with a bottle for every budget, and offers a large selection of champagnes, for those with something to celebrate. Those who feel that they have overindulged can round off the meal is with a delicious pot of fresh mint tea.
The Last WordMews of Mayfair serves delicious food in a beautiful setting, and is the perfect restaurant for a date or a meal with friends. Recommended.
