We visited Mews of Mayfair last night and were very disappointed. The tables were packed together so tightly you could feel the waiters bodies brushing past you every time they served food, which was often. Three times they knocked my jacket off the back of my chair onto the floor. The fish I had was not fresh and was badly fileted so I ended up with a plate full of bones. It was very noisy there and not a nice atmosphere. To top it off they aded a 20% service charge to the bill, which was outrageous for the very poor attention we had. Our waiter was clueless. When I complained they did nothing and in fact didn't accept our comments. Never again will I visit the Mews. It was poor quality food and service and over-priced.
The Mews of Mayfair is an absolute find!!! Gently tucked away in an adorable courtyard it is a stunning building to view.
The outside decor gives an air of eliteness which does not get lost as you enter into the building.
The lounge and cocktail bar are superbly run and the service is impeccable.
The cocktails are delicious with a choice of signature cocktails but great old favourites, must admit I am very partial to an amaretto sour - and the Mews serves the best in the area.
The atmosphere in the lounge wed - sat is great and a really intimate night club.
The restaurant is such a oasis of calm and the service is so friendly, the staff are knowledgeable and give great advice without being pushy and genuinely offer wines that will complement the course.
I cant begin to list the different meals that I have enjoyed because each one has been mouth watering, but the fact that i visit at least once a fortnight is rather telling!!
I had the pleasure of visiting the Chef's Private Room and it is just stunning - an experience youve got to see to appreciate.Full marks to the team - i am obviously a huge fan!
I took my girlfriend to Mews last week and we had a great time. We arrived early so we could enjoy a drink before dinner.
It was a warm evening so we had a glass of champagne in the courtyard, there was a really nice atmosphere outside.
It almost felt like you were on holiday in a small town in Italy.
Once we finished our drink we went up to the restaurant. It was wonderfully designed and my girlfriend instantly fell in love with the wallpaper which had butterflies on.
We were sat at our table and decided to order a cocktail before dinner.
They were delicious, I had a chili cuddle and my girlfriend had a watermelon sorbet.
When we were deciding what to order the waiter was able to fully explain each dish and also recommend a suitable wine for the meal.
I went for the scallops and my girlfriend had some oysters. Both were great, the oysters tasted really fresh and the scallops tasted great with the cauliflower and cumin.
For our main course we decided to order the beef rump for two.
It was amazing, the meat was so tender and cooked to perfection. For dessert I ordered the chocolate tart with orange ice-cream and my girlfriend went for the raspberry soufflé.
The waiter informed us that the soufflé takes 12mins to cook but assured us it was worth the wait and he was right. Both desserts were delicious.
After dinner we decided to have a few more cocktails in the lounge bar where we were told a DJ was playing.
We were given a table and spent the rest of the night working our way through the wonderful cocktail list.
All in all we both had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend coming here.
I visited Mews of Mayfair reluctantly, thinking that it will be another pompous venue in Mayfair.
However, I was pleasantly surprised! The bar was beautifully furnished, great friendly buzzing crowd without the snobbiness of other mayfair bars.
The drinks were spot on, the barmen were keen to know how exactly I wanted it. We then went to upstairs for dinner. We were met by an extremely helpful receptionist who took our coats and bags and showed us to our table. The food was exceptional.
Fresh ingredients used to make yummy dishes. I had the seabream to start with followed by the beef rump. I found the portions very generous and would definitely go back.
Seeing all the positive reviews I decided to give this place a visit to see what the fuss was about, and sadly I was grossly dissatisfied with the whole experience.
Initially I was impressed with the way they handled the reservation on the phone, the staff were well spoken, and they we're willing to make adjustments to suit the personal needs.
Once we arrived the restaurant was in a very attractive location with a small group of bars and restaurants lined up next to each other which created a private yet buzzy atmosphere.
Once entering the restaurant I expected to be greeted by a member of staff to seat me and my party, however one member of staff just walked straight past me, so I was forced to aproach the receptionist first and initiate the greeting.
I expect to be greeted first rather than me having to aproach the staff, I believe this is an industry standard.
Having confirmed we had a reservation the receptionist simply pointed at the table we we're at, stating "that is you're table there".
Personally that is something I expect at a motorway diner, on top of that they didnt ask to take our coats, I had to personally force feed him to ask us to take our coats. Maybe I should be taking the supervisors job?
Once we sat ourselves we ordered a round of drinks whilst waiting for the rest of the party, these drinks are set at prices which I expect high quality ingredients and high innovation, but I was dissapointed to find that I could buy the same quality at one of the mainstream nightclubs in Mayfair at half the price!
Besides whilst the waiter was preparin the drinks he dropped the glasses, twice!
As we we're enjoying our night (due to good company) another group of people came in and they again had to force feed the staff to take their coats, except this time the receptionist placed a dozen coats onto one of the empty seats for our table, and it took him 5 minute
This place can confuse you. Most places are either good for drinking or eating with either a good restaurant and bad bar or vice versa. Some how these guys have managed to pull of both and additionally have a late night drinking den downstairs and a rather individual private room on the top floor. Make sure you visit all floors to get a true experience. I'd been going to the ground floor bar over 12 months before I discovered the other floors.
Whilst the location and intended atmosphere of this bar was excellent, as well as the ability to make you feel like you are in a classy establishment, I as a fairly well employed man can not understand why anyone would want to drink here. It was horribly overpriced, and the service / comfort did not warant the charges. Perhaps it was down to the barman trying to make as big a tip as possible that he poured only the most expensive drinks for the round. Thank God we arrived there toward the end of the evening, or else I would not have been able to pay the mortgage at the end of the month.
I visited the Mews of Mayfair, for the first time last week for dinner and drinks. I struggled to choose just one main, however eventally settled for the crispy stone bass followed by the Lemon curd Cheese cake. I finished off with with a couple of mjhitos in the downstair bar. Overall a fantastic evening from start to finish. Well done and thanks, we will be back.
The mews itself is beautiful, a hidden treasure in Mayfair, but the bar / restaurant is not very impressive. It is overpriced, sterile and some of the staff are rude, more in particular downstairs in the basement. The choice is music is poor. Too loud too. Finally, the bouncers are a bit overzealous when it comes to smokers standing a bit too near the door. To cut things short: a bad experience.
This is a fantastic venue, with character and charm... the atmosphere is excellent, which is hard to come by in London these days especially in the local area... great staff, great drinks and always a good time and consistently impressive crowd - particularly in the summer with outside seating! Definitely a regular here...
I am back from Greece again, visiting London. So I had to re-visit Mews of Mayfair, the place was just as nice as my 1st visit, lovely place.
We got to Mews of Mayfair shortly before 11pm, which was probably our downfall, because we were told the main bar was closing, but we could go downstairs to the 'late bar' which would be filling up shortly.
We went down to the rather seedy 'after hours' room, and were served 2 very delicious, albeit overpriced, cocktails. We paid the 'discretionary 12.5% tip' as we always do, even though the barman didn't give us the chance to dispute it, and then he threw the tray down and threw his fellow barman a disgusted look because we didn't tip him further!
We took our drinks to a table and were immediately told that all the seating area was 'reserved' even though there was only another half a dozen people in the bar.
Maybe it was bad timing or maybe the late bar in Mews is always this bad?
I had an incredible Sunday roast at Mews of Mayfair. Not only did the maitre d' manage to find us a lovely table but the staff made us feel at home and the service was impeccable. I've been there a couple of times now but it was a treat to go for Sunday lunch. In terms of cost we thought it was excellent value for money at £22.00 per person.
The meat was beautifully tasty and succulent and the vegetables were fresh and oozing with flavour and the waiter helped us selction a fantastic wine from their extensive list. Mews of Mayfair was a thoroughly enjoyable and repeatable experience!
We were walking down Bond Street to get away from the crowds on Oxford Street, when I stumbled across this small pathway leading to a lovely restaurant called Mews of Mayfair. It was a breath of fresh air, so we had a few drinks in the bar and then we decided to eat in the restaurant on the first floor. We were greeted with a smile, which is hard to find in London these days.
The food was delicious.
I am a meat man, so I had to have the T-bone, my wife had fish, and the service was lovely. We had a bottle of Amorone and the mash potato was nearly as good as my Greek Grandmothers. Mews of Mayfair is a great place, must be visited. I will go again.
I have now been to Mews of Mayfair twice the first time I thought the poor service and lack of menu knowledge was due to teething problems when opening a new establishment. They didn't even have a cocktail list but the girl assured me they could make any classics - I think they were actually inventing their own classics.
The second time round was a far worse experience. The waitress was under pressure and very curt with people and did not smile. Mews of Mayfair is lovely though, I hope the service improves and maybe for me it will be third time lucky.
Mews of Mayfair is elegance personified. We had a delightful evening and enjoyed sumptuous food that was beautifully cooked and perfectly presented. Mews of Mayfair is a treat beyond compare.
