The only problem with this place that it is tucked away so no one can find it. When you do find it thou you will go back.
Great place, good vibe, fantastic cocktails and good music.
5 outta 5 from me
This is a venue that regularly shuts down and reopens under new management, I can't see this latest incarnation being any different.
The place was half empty last friday night- save for a few office parties- and the music was so loud the bartender got our orders wrong.
This place wants to be glam and chic sooo badly but just isn't..
Last week we came down to what we thought was the old Metropolis bar and grill by the Millennium Bridge, after thinking we we’re lost, we went in via the back door and into the lower bar which looked stunning, the first thing we saw was this huge black leather couch, which we promptly plonked ourselves on.
A few seconds later, the waitress came over to take our drinks order, we had ordered a bottle of wine and sat back and relaxed. We couldn’t believe the change and had to go and check out the rest of the place. The rest of the place wasn’t a disappointment. Even the restaurant area which used to be so open and uninviting was warm and cosy. All in all a vast improvement, we would defiantly recommend coming down for a visit.
To say I was disappointed with this venue is somewhat of a major understatement. I had known it as Metropolis, and it now resembles a warped interpretation of a bar. It is difficult to decide what was worst: the bizarre curtains hanging in the middle of the upstairs bar, the ridiculously large faux leather sofa or the (fake?) cow hide stools. The in-house dj either had poor taste or a lack of good music to play as some of the 'gems' played were Peter Andre (pre Jordan) and a Spanish version of I Will Survive - sadly I cannot see how this place will.
The icing on the cake in terms of disappointment with the uninterested staff was them bringing a wine cooler when the bottle was nearly finished.
This was all surpassed with a visit to the gents to discover that a present had been left in one of the urinals, but no problem as a staff member had thoughtfully covered up the offending turd with paper towels!!
Great food, drinks and ambience - what else can you ask for..a real priceless jewel.
My partner hates coming to see me for lunch but as we met at this place when it was called Shoeless Joe's we thought we would go back, reminisce and have to admit its a great place now. This place has won my partner over which is no easy task I assure you :-)
I went there with the girls after work and I have to stay WOW. What a venue, this place has everything you need...stunning and friendly staff, lovely cocktails, amazaing decor. I hear the lunch time menu is a MUST so will go back there again. A worthwhile experience.
