Visited this pub/bar/restaurant last weekend for a friends birthday and had a brilliant night!! We had a meal upstairs in the restaurant to begin with and must I say how splendid it all was - the service, the food and the atmosphere!! We then went downstairs to the bar afterwards and carried on the night with amazing cocktails! Again the atmosphere was brilliant - along with the Djs brilliant choice of music - we really did enjoy ourselves! Perfect place to choose if you want everything under 1 roof!! Well done to all the staff there - you all made out night an extremely enjoyable one and we will sure be returning in the near future! This time to enjoy and relax in the garden!

this bar used to be amazing , has gone down hill since newer members of staff that have managed to make it behind the bar. been going there for drinks after work for years , went there recently for 'student night drink prices' only to be told there where no happy hour drinks on ????? even though there where flyer's for the night all around the bar. when i questioned the barman he went round the bar collecting all the flayers, then went onto the bar computer changing the prices and displaying them on the TVs around the bar ??? when questioned on this he didn't really have an answer, would suggest the owners put this guy back on collecting glass duty, otherwise they could lose a lot more customers !!!!!!!

Went here on thursday 9th april for dinner and drinks. the restaurant was very busy and had a lovely vibe especially with a russell brand lookalike tinkling the ivories on the piano.

food was superb and service too. the steak was the truly the best i've ever had. went down to bar for drinks and the place was absolutely packed.

the dj was spot on with the 80s tunes and we ended up staying till 2! bit worse for wear next morning but me and my pals cant wait wait to go back if truth be known. 10/10

I agree! Food is fantastic; the owner, Ozzie, is a congenial and accommodating gentleman. I was there with George Conley from the US Embassy. The duck was great! Did I say that? Just a nice gem tucked away in residential Greenwich. We ate upstairs but returned with some mates from the Eu Parliament and we had great food and talk and a pint or 2. A Number 1

My partner and I visted the North Pole for Valentines day last year and had a lovely meal upstairs but I re-visted the bar in June, with my father and the bar service was rubbish! We ended up walking out!

If your going to visit, book a table upstairs in the restaurant- the service is much nicer and the food is memorable.

I went to this eat at this fine restraurant on sunday 27/07/08, around 7pm with my girlfirend. As soon as I arrived I was amased at how beautiful the interior was! I was greeted by a lovely looking waitress, who showed me my table and took my jacket and my partners! She then asked me where I would like to be seated, as the North Pole have a green room and a red room! The green room is slightly larger and has a grand piano, and the red room is more intimate with a fire place( I can't wait for winter so I can sit with my wifey by that fire place) now thats romance! I also paid attention to detail, and I could see so do the north pole, thier chandelers even had fish swimming in little cone shaped tanks above me! Stunning. I was str8 away served with an ice cold cocktail jug, and it was poured for me by the waitress, it tasted great. And then I placed my order, which was malysian prawns garnished on a dish of salad, and my girlfriend had ravioli with goats cheese inside of it! When the portion arrived it was hot, eye catching and not a small portion but what you would expect of a starter! Also hot bread was served to me, with a dish of olive oil and vinegar. Your supposed to dip the bread intoi it! I admit I had never had this before and it tasted great! Then for my main course, I ordered sea bass with ratatooee( think thats how you spell it) and my girlfriend ordered the duck! I need to express to you food lovers out there, go to this bloody place. Ive never had sea bass cooked so well, my mouth was surely watering and the portion was big, but enough to filll me up, with room for desert. And her duck portion was pure meat no fat, and cooked with suh a tenderness it melted in my mouth. As you can see im a foodie! There was music playin in the background, rat pack, light contempory jazz! It really set the scene. Not only did I have complete privacy with my girlfriend,i cant believe ppl have said negative things about North Pole Bar and Restaurant!

lol no i dont, i work for the met police actually, it just so happens thats in my spare time, i sometimes write reviews for people and restraurants!! its a lil hobby of mine! when i speak, its clear and articulate, and when i eat, its precise and delicate... lol at the end of the day the food was great, and so was the service... thats why i dont understand why people wrote what they did, then again we call can have a bad experience somewhere or the other.... why did you ask if i worked for the north pole? and why are you anoymous? surely your proud of your comment?

When you speak it's clear and articulate?

Are you being serious? Your review has a lack of punctuation, making it extremely hard to read young man.

I visited the north pole restaurant on Sunday the 27th with my boyfriend to have a delicious Sunday lunch, which I must say was absolutely fabulous. We had the 3 course set menu which was at a great price of £19.95 all the food on the menu was pleasing to the eye because they had a variety of dishes to suit vegetarians and meat lovers. The waitress was extremely friendly and catered to our every need, she looked after both me and my boyfriend very well and we were very impressed.
I totally disagree with the comment which was previously left about the staff being rude as I was seated at the restaurant that day and had a superb time.
I’ve been here many times before and will be sure to come back very soon.
If your looking for a great night out or even a quick lunch I’d advise you to visit this restaurant as it has a lot more to offer all under one roof.

The previous couple of reviewers must have been to a different North Pole because I recently celebrated my birthday on a Sunday night and it was superb! We had a yummy meal in the 1st floor restaurant for £14.95 for 3 courses! We were excited about ther jazz band after and they didnt disappoint - Andrea Brittan singing and Steve Large (from Squueze) on keyboard, 4 guys in total band. Had an excellent night and I have now become a regular. Cant wait for the sunday bbq in the really nice garden too. Best in greenwich by far - thanks to Russian Anna - yr a star behind the bar!

I booked a table for 15:00 on Sunday to take my girlfriend for what i thought would be a nice lunch.
I was running late and phoned then to tell them, we went out of our way to arrive at the restaurant as soon as possible.
When we did finally arrived i was told that the restaurant would be closed at 16:30 and that we could only have one dish each if any at all, the staff were rude and seemed inconvienced that we had showed up for lunch. They didn't tell us at any point that the restaurant would close at 16:30 and they really couldn't be bothered to help us or suggest an alternative. I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone!

Don't bother turning up for the live Jazz 'BAND' Because there isn't one, just a LAME duo.. (crammed in a corner).

If there was a band it would have to be pretty condensed!

Football takes Presidence (ie) live music is cancelled when it's on without any notice whatsoever.

Naturally the clientelle changes when it's on..

Went to North Pole for my recent birthday dinner and drinks and have to completely disagree with the previous reviewer. The restaurant is very swish and the food service and ambience superb.

The place was packed and we were very well looked after and loved the pianist too. We headed down to the bar after to boogie till 2am and the DJ was playing some classic old skool disco tunes. There was a cool vibe and the ambience was by far from being poncey. The drinks were normal pub prices and we all agreed that a good time was had by all. Can't wait to go back!

I went to the North Pole Bar with my boyfriend for a birthday party one evening. We were told by the bouncers to wait outside while they were looking for our friend inside. In the meantime two groups of men and women arrived and were allowed in without any problems. After another 20 minutes we were finally let in.

There seems to be a certain preference as to when you can get in without having to wait. North Pole was very disappointing! I certainly won't go back!

I went to the North Pole Bar and Restaurant for a birthday dinner, and - wow! The bar on ground floor was very stylish and the barmen were putting on a real show throwing the bottles about! They served me the best mojito I've ever had.

The restaurant was equally divine. The food, service and ambience were superb and the pianist on the grand piano really set the mood. North Pole Bar and Restaurant is the best place in Greenwich by far and I can't wait to go back!

Having read the two user reviews of the North Pole Bar & Restaurant, I felt I had to post mine on the site too. I completely loved this place. I understand it has recently been refurbed and thought it looked very swish. I visited on the 1st April for the Frank Sinatra tribute show and have to say that me and my five friends loved every minute. The price was £25 per head for a three course set menu and we were even given a complimentary glass of champagne too! The performer was first class, the food was superb and so was the service, sorry Patricia I have to disagree with you here! We will definitely be going back to North Pole Bar & Restaurant on April 27th for the Dean Martin show!

I visited the North Pole Bar & Restaurant in Greenwich on Saturday 2nd April and I have to say that I was very impressed. I took along 25 of my friends to celebrate my 35th birthday and could not disagree more with the previous comments about the 'cold' staff. The restaurant is fab, the decor is very swish, the food is amazing (our waiter told us that the head chef is formerly of the Savoy!) and most importantly the service was very professional. We headed down to the bar after our meal and boogied 'til late. When the bar manager learned it was my birthday he sent over 2 complimentary bottles of champagne with sparklers which to me was the icing on the cake. We all had a fantastic night and can't wait to go back for more!

The name says it all, decidedly chilly staff. The waiter could not find our name on the list and disappeared without a word. We were given filthy glasses that looked like they had already been used by the previous customers. I chose this resturant for my Mother's Day meal and expected it to be very special, trust me it was not. I do not suppose my family and I will be visiting this resturant again, and most certainly will not be recommending it to our friends. However, the food was good!

I used to be a big fan of this bar\restaurant (North Pole) when I lived in the area a few years ago - on returning recently I found that the food was far from its previous high standards and the emphasis seemed to be on the unpleasantly noisy bar.
