I went to this eat at this fine restraurant on sunday 27/07/08, around 7pm with my girlfirend. As soon as I arrived I was amased at how beautiful the interior was! I was greeted by a lovely looking waitress, who showed me my table and took my jacket and my partners! She then asked me where I would like to be seated, as the North Pole have a green room and a red room! The green room is slightly larger and has a grand piano, and the red room is more intimate with a fire place( I can't wait for winter so I can sit with my wifey by that fire place) now thats romance! I also paid attention to detail, and I could see so do the north pole, thier chandelers even had fish swimming in little cone shaped tanks above me! Stunning. I was str8 away served with an ice cold cocktail jug, and it was poured for me by the waitress, it tasted great. And then I placed my order, which was malysian prawns garnished on a dish of salad, and my girlfriend had ravioli with goats cheese inside of it! When the portion arrived it was hot, eye catching and not a small portion but what you would expect of a starter! Also hot bread was served to me, with a dish of olive oil and vinegar. Your supposed to dip the bread intoi it! I admit I had never had this before and it tasted great! Then for my main course, I ordered sea bass with ratatooee( think thats how you spell it) and my girlfriend ordered the duck! I need to express to you food lovers out there, go to this bloody place. Ive never had sea bass cooked so well, my mouth was surely watering and the portion was big, but enough to filll me up, with room for desert. And her duck portion was pure meat no fat, and cooked with suh a tenderness it melted in my mouth. As you can see im a foodie! There was music playin in the background, rat pack, light contempory jazz! It really set the scene. Not only did I have complete privacy with my girlfriend,i cant believe ppl have said negative things about North Pole Bar and Restaurant!
I visited the north pole restaurant on Sunday the 27th with my boyfriend to have a delicious Sunday lunch, which I must say was absolutely fabulous. We had the 3 course set menu which was at a great price of £19.95 all the food on the menu was pleasing to the eye because they had a variety of dishes to suit vegetarians and meat lovers. The waitress was extremely friendly and catered to our every need, she looked after both me and my boyfriend very well and we were very impressed.
I totally disagree with the comment which was previously left about the staff being rude as I was seated at the restaurant that day and had a superb time.
I’ve been here many times before and will be sure to come back very soon.
If your looking for a great night out or even a quick lunch I’d advise you to visit this restaurant as it has a lot more to offer all under one roof.
The previous couple of reviewers must have been to a different North Pole because I recently celebrated my birthday on a Sunday night and it was superb! We had a yummy meal in the 1st floor restaurant for £14.95 for 3 courses! We were excited about ther jazz band after and they didnt disappoint - Andrea Brittan singing and Steve Large (from Squueze) on keyboard, 4 guys in total band. Had an excellent night and I have now become a regular. Cant wait for the sunday bbq in the really nice garden too. Best in greenwich by far - thanks to Russian Anna - yr a star behind the bar!
terrible bar - terrible service - staff are unfriendly and can't really be arsed to serve anyone!
I booked a table for 15:00 on Sunday to take my girlfriend for what i thought would be a nice lunch.
I was running late and phoned then to tell them, we went out of our way to arrive at the restaurant as soon as possible.
When we did finally arrived i was told that the restaurant would be closed at 16:30 and that we could only have one dish each if any at all, the staff were rude and seemed inconvienced that we had showed up for lunch. They didn't tell us at any point that the restaurant would close at 16:30 and they really couldn't be bothered to help us or suggest an alternative. I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone!
Don't bother turning up for the live Jazz 'BAND' Because there isn't one, just a LAME duo.. (crammed in a corner).
If there was a band it would have to be pretty condensed!
Football takes Presidence (ie) live music is cancelled when it's on without any notice whatsoever.
Naturally the clientelle changes when it's on..
Sundays are GREAT..Andrea Britton plays there every other week - the band are storming, one of the best Ive seen in years..not to be missed!
Went to North Pole for my recent birthday dinner and drinks and have to completely disagree with the previous reviewer. The restaurant is very swish and the food service and ambience superb.
The place was packed and we were very well looked after and loved the pianist too. We headed down to the bar after to boogie till 2am and the DJ was playing some classic old skool disco tunes. There was a cool vibe and the ambience was by far from being poncey. The drinks were normal pub prices and we all agreed that a good time was had by all. Can't wait to go back!
