Right in the heart of Londons bar district of Soho, you can find the O Bar supplying all you need in a night out: cocktails, comfortable surroundings and dancing.

The Venue
O Bar is on a corner of Wardour Street and faces a lot of competition as a result from all the bars surrounding it. However, it puts up a good fight against the rest with unique, quirky decor, and some tasty cocktails. On the ground floor there’s a long bar and a small amount of seating. There is an almost romantic feel to the bar with dim lights, candles, gilt-framed mirrors and freshly cut flowers. Upstairs, there are leather sofas to be swallowed up in, a large fireplace and a smaller bar. The idea is that this area is more exclusive and intimate and it may take some persuasion of the bouncers to gain access. In the basement is where the real fun is at, and the club feel really takes over with mirrored walls and huge seating booths. Everyone down there is less interested in freshly cut flowers and more interested in having a good time.

The Atmosphere
On the two upper floors the club feels quite intimate, which is great if you’re there with people you know – the more the merrier! However, if you want to go out and make new friends then this may not be the place for you. It’s a good place for a catch up and a cocktail and it feels more like a bar, less like a club on these floors. This changes downstairs where the space is more squashed and it’s essential to make friends on the dance floor as you’re fairly packed in! Everyone downstairs is in high spirits and there is a feel good feeling between fellow clubbers. The O Bar is a mix of students out for a classy night, and young professionals. The bar staff aren’t always on the ball and the bar queue often gets three people deep, which is frustrating when you’re gasping for a cocktail. The bouncers are not always friendly or helpful but can be talked around if you really want to get upstairs to those sumptuous sofas.

The Music
The music is funk, which can stray into pop occasionally on the weekend. It’s all in the name of a good night (and a packed dance floor), though. There are regular DJs, meaning you can pick your favourite and stick to their night.

The Drink
There is a huge range of cocktails that come served by the glass or jug. There are also shooters, beers, wines and spirits. The price of a cocktail is fairly reasonable for the area, and for those on a bigger budget there are a few champagne cocktails on offer.

The Last Word
The O Bar is a fashionable place to relax and offers a chance to let your hair down after a few delicious cocktails. If you have the patience to stand the queues and surly staff, then this is a cool place to spend a night.
