I was there last night for a friend's birthday.
Everything was great apart from this particular barmaid.
She was aggressive and wouldn't give me what I ordered.
Friends and I often go there and she's always intimidating the customers.
Such a shame as it's a very nice place but that rockabilly big-haired woman is ruining the atmosphere.
5 star before she came. It's 2 star now.

The cocktails are very good, but the service is slow. I opened an tab and when I went to pay I put my pin and they give me the card but, but the debit card was not mine and I realized only in the following day. How can someone put the pin and have the card changed without see, it was really fast and I was not drunk as we arrived there after dinner just for one drink. Crazy! I am facing problems because of this until now, one week later. This is a very serious mistake. Off Broadway never again!

As local a simple message for the owners/management ... You have a decent cocktail bar upstairs and an interesting live music/cinema bar down, its a good addition to broadway market but one comment ... get rid of the attitude!! broadway market is a cool chilled place and you seem to think you are "too cool for school!" If you do not quickly understand the area not only will you disappear as a business but you will also damage the area as a place to go and relax for a a chilled night out!!! SORT IT OUT!! You are the right venue for the street as long as you have the right attitude and understanding!!

It's a lovely little place with a promising cocktail list upstairs, and there's a small basement bar downstairs. I went to the downstairs bar for a friend's birthday last weekend and liked it at first, but the bar manager doesn't seem to be very great as he encouraged regular customers to come and use the one free table downstairs when my friends had paid to have the room exclusively, and then got all funny about it when confronted. It wouldn't have been so bad if the intruders weren't rude and hadn't come down with a snappy little dog!!! So don't bother hiring the space there and avoid the creepy manager if you can, but check it out if you're passing.

Hey all,i have worked in and around Shoreditch/london Fields/dalston for years - in a number of venues in a number of capacities. I think we all get the fact that you don't have to be subservient to provide good service, we also get the fact that bar staff make the atmosphere. We get it! It is a bar on Broadway Market not Mcdonalds on the High street after all - (although lately they are feeling a little similar). Having said that however it is not my job to understand or give a shit about the delicate psychological machinations of this "johnny-come-lately" bar woman (aka "the-passé-quiff") or to "get to know her" or "discover she is really sweet" - I already have friends of my own. This woman has about as much social cache as an std. She, the place and the drinks are neither "good", "hot" nor "happening" enough (however you want to come at it) - to warrant the attitude - I am embarrassed on their behalf for keeping her on staff. Honey, get over yourself as it seem everyone else has.

On a more positive note I would like to thank the chap - who made a great drink in 1/10th of the time without the amateur dramatics and commiserate with him at the public castigation she obviously felt it was fine to subject him to. I quite like bar staff with attitude - but you've got to have something to back it up - bar skills, a sense of humour, sassiness, an actual connection with the local community (not the one you've invented in your head) or at the very least know how to 'work a look'. "the-passé-quiff's" only skill is being rude and bringing a revolting vibe to what could have developed into a classic little local bar.

If the Quiffmare is working, don't bother. I got told to "shut up" with a snarl as i yelped with ticklishness, "how very rude" I replied, "well you have done it before" she growled, I hadn't. Perhaps you should stop looking at pictures of yourself on Myspace and lighten up, maybe have a cocktail.

I have been here on a blessed night when she wasn't working and had a lovely evening. The American guys is great. If you do go, try and not make any noise and you should be safe. Service with a snarl.

I love this bar - best bar in the Broadway Mkt. Most of the staff are great. I know the one the others are talking about [with the quiff] and can sympathise, but she is a real character and a sweetheart really.

I would love to have more bar staff like her around places, but she is unique. Service isn't just about being subservient.

The obnoxious 'quiff' woman made for yet another unpleasant evening. She seems to have quite a reputation for it going by what I've read and heard elsewhere. Whether that's 'her way' doesn't really stand up as an excuse. Staff in the service industry should be pleasant from the outset, none of this she's-lovely-once-you-get-to-know-her rubbish.

You'd have thought that the American-style of this place would include good quality service.

Overall, a try-hard, rude, pretentious hipster joint. A sad farewell to the East End charm and warmth that has been eradicated by this fad for surliness and arrogance.

Calm down dear, it's only a cocktail.
