On Anon is a mammoth club – you could be lost for hours inside its twisting corridors and many dance floors. Just be sure to take your phone along in case you lose a friend and get ready to explore what this club has to offer.The VenueOn Anon is another bar and club in the Late Night London chain – and is one of the largest venues with the widest appeal. As soon as you walk in you’re faced with decisions on which way to go. It’s best to just throw caution to the wind and follow a random route through the maze of this club and see what you find. Different music plays across each of the five floors on several dancefloors and in its various bar areas – from the lodge to the glam bar. Each bar is different in its design, from the chilled out section with large leather sofas and cube stools to the large dancefloor on the top floor that has a distinct warehouse feel to it and pumps out the tunes. So, depending on your mood you can move from area to area and feel the different vibes. And if you don’t want to listen to Britney Spears? Just move onto the next room!
The AtmosphereRunning into early evening, On Anon firmly categorises itself as a bar. The music is muted, the lights bright and office workers and tired shoppers hit its many bars for a quiet, chilled out drink. As the evening wears on into the night a totally different venue emerges as it shakes off its bar vibe and moves into club mode. The lights dim, seating areas are cleared away to reveal many dance floors, the music starts to pump and the atmosphere is unpretentious and fun. Just be wary of the inevitable Late Night London meat market – guys out on the pull, some of whom can be quite determined in their approach. But with a good security team there’s no need to feel intimidated – they keep a firm hold on trouble, without the usual over the top aggression of some security teams in Central.
The MusicEven though On Anon has several dance floors and bar areas, each playing different tunes, they all stick to the same formula – commercial, popular chart songs. If you don’t like that type of thing then this is definitely not for you – and neither are any of the Late Night London venues. But if you don’t mind a bit of cheesy pop and a few chart tunes to boogy the night away then there’s more than enough on offer.
The DrinkDrinks are reasonable for a Central London club. Wine and beer are comparatively inexpensive – although cocktails and redbull inevitably push up the bar bill. Queues for drinks can be painfully long though, so buy one for each hand unless you want to spend the whole night glued to the side of the bar.
The Last WordOn Anon is a fun, laid back club that knows what it is – a venue for the non-glitterati, catering for those who just want a fun, unpretentious night on the town.
