being irish i love going to o'neills..it usually feels like a home from home.
it would be nice if more of the staff were irish, or in fact any of them.
when i rang up to ask if they were showing the tyrone V armagh match on tv..
no one knew what i was talking about. i know you can't discriminate..but its that what makes it that bit more traditional!
Possibly the absolutely worst dining experience I've ever had, anywhere in the world!
I know, big words, but likely true. The service was a joke, we waited 2 hours (no kidding) for our food, food for which we had to PREPAY(!!) (presumably b/c they know that otherwise we would have left.
After 1 1/2 hrs of waiting, I wanted another coke, for which the waitress presents me with a £2.30 additional bill.
It gets even more absurd than that however, when, at the 2 hour mark it turns out they've gotten about 50% of our table's order completely wrong, that - and my seafood soup is still nowhere to be seen.
They had a grand total of two waitresses serving an entire bar full of rugby fans, and both had a horrible attitute, like it was a personal affront to them that we wanted to eat.
I'm not kidding. The restaurant touts itself as having great Irish food, quality ingredients and there are ads all over the walls for how great the food is and how recommended it is that you eat at O'Neills. I say avoid at all cost.
When my seafood dish finally arrived (after several promptings) it was stone cold. I made my concerns known to the manager, who pretty much informed me that this is how he does things, and If I didn't like it, well, basically screw me...Nice.
At this point I left and got a lamb shawarma down the street, despite already having pre-paid the £90 bill for my party of 9.Avoid this joint at all costs. I'm dead serious. Anywhere in the states, this place would be out of business. - Inge
They must be taking the no smoking theme from Ireland on slowly at O'Neill's. We went to a friend's party here and had a non smoking room which was great. We had a great night with lots of beer and food. Our party was pretty loud as were others but we weren't bothered by the public. We would look at O'Neill's again for a party.
