The ViewLondon Review
The Ordanance Arms is the perfect bar to visit all year round because it offers a home and hearth atmosphere by the fire in winter and al fresco wining and dining in the summer.
The Venue
Located in a picturesque residential street in St Johns Wood, the Ordanance Arms is an attractive wine bar with wooden floors and fittings. However, those who know the venue will have witnessed a change, because there are no longer the deep comfy leather chairs and sofas provided in the main room. Instead, new wooden tables are provided for you to put your drinks on while you chat standing up with your fellow drinkers.
The Atmosphere
This bar has a mellow, laid back atmosphere and, although it mostly draws local Hampstead residents, it is well worth crossing town for.
The Food
The Ordanance Arms serves food that is easy to eat while drinking, such as scampi and fries with salad. You can also have platters to share and the steak sandwiches are really worth trying.
The Drink
The recommended drinks of the day are chalked up on a blackboard behind the bar at The Ordanance. The specialty is new world wines, with a particular mention going to the South African chardonnay.
The Last Word
This is a very attractive relaxing place to be and worth knowing about because it is not too crowded.
