Not just the view but the service is absolutely first class. I just had a best cocktail i ever had, the Christmas special. No waiting time for the drinks at all even it was very busy. Had a fabulous night out. Highly recommended. Thanks for the great team
I agree that I had no problems going here. My boyfriend took me here as a surprise for my birthday. He had his name on the guestlist and the reception staff were lovely. They overhead that I didn't know where we were going and assured. Me its a. Lovely surprise and that they wouldn't spoil it. The waitress we had was very polite and no complaints there at all. We then later saw the same man from reception who asked us about our evening so far. The cocktails were delicious if very strong. The view was amazing. And the staff all polite and friendly. I had an amazing evening and I'm sure many other people do too. Was a lovely surprise.
View is amazing and the quality of the cocktails is excellent. That should be enough. But the staff are so rude and poor that it spoils the occasion.
Normally, when the staff have this bad of an attitude it's due to poor management. People hating where they work. I have no evidence of this, but it just seems to be all of them.
When we left, 90 minutes before closing, they were operating a one in one out policy. It seems fair enough until you know that we were the only people left in the bar! Insane.
Wow - I normally don't post reviews but my experience of Paramount was totally different to the other reviewers. This place certainly deserves far more than its current 1 star average!
I took my girlfriend there last night for her Birthday and had a lovely evening. The hostess was polite and friendly, chatting to us as were seated, asking if we'd dined with them before and insisting we go to the viewing gallery after our meal.
Our waiter was cheerful and unpretentious and happily made recommendations on both wine and food (The baked Cod with sweet and sour sauce he recommended was excellent).
The food itself was comparable with other London restaurants in this price bracket - its not michelin star dining but it is inventive food, well made and well presented.
What sets this place apart is the incredible view, both from the table and the full 360 degrees from the observation deck. If you've been on the London Eye... this is better.
I ended up spotting these reviews while looking to buy vouchers to give as a gift for a friends wedding so that they could have as beautiful an evening as we did.
Sounds like service here may be a little inconsistent, but if you book in advance and have the same staff we did then you will enjoy an unforgettable evening.
Booked in as part of the London Food Festival lunch special for a group of 6. Turned up and decided we would enjoy the views on a few drinks first. Waiters were quite pushy to order drinks and when we ordered less than the number of people we had, was met with sarcastic remarks. Onto the lunch, they gave us the brunch menu (it was 2pm) and was told that the lff special was not available on the weekends although it was booked with them and confirmed with my cc and the place was pretty much empty. They kept pushing us to see the brunch menu which I was not impressed with and again met with sniggering waiters and acrimonious comments. After making a complaint about this, was finally given the lff menu to order and throughout the ordeal waiters have been the rudest ones I've ever met with simple things like the butter tray thrown briskly onto the table. View's are great, but not worth the rudest service Ive ever experienced on offer at this pretentious dig.
Allow me to set the scene – Two nights ago was my 1 year anniversary with my girlfriend and I wanted to find a nice place to have a drink before our dinner reservations. Paramount seemed prefect except they seemed to get a lot of negative public reviews on sites like this. I ignored the reviews (big mistake!) and called the venue that afternoon. A very nice woman assured me that walk-ins are welcome and we would have ‘no problems’ if we showed up at 7:00 on a Tues. ‘Fair enough’ I thought, Paramount must have changed their ways in light of all the negative buzz about them on the interweb; The System works. Well you can guess where I’m going with this – despite showing up exactly when I said we would and dressed in my best suit, we were still turned away by the worst doorman I have ever met! I explained that it was a special occasion and we were only staying for a few drinks but that got nothing but blank stares, so then I explained that he was of below average intelligence and his parents were most likely cousins. Needless to say we then went to another bar where I grossly over tipped out of principle and had a much better night for it.
The moral of the store is, always trust public reviews and do not go to Paramount, it is run by people who are the product of inbreeding.
The rudeness of the staff on the front desk is unsurpassable. We arrived to meet a friend for birthday drinks on a weekday evening. We were told we could not walk in "off the street", implying that we were 2nd class citizens. You can only go to this bar if you are on a guest list. Our friend had rung 2 days before and was told if we were a party of <10 we could just turn up. We were all turned away. I don't think this bar is worth the effort - I wouldn't even bother to set in through door. You can have a much nicer time in the bar at the Soho Hotel. 0 customer service and -5 for atmosphere!
