The ViewLondon Review
Peter Stringfellow's Angels is a plush spin-off to Stringfellows down the road in Covent Garden. Nightclub and gentleman's club come together in Mr Stringfellow's alchemical mix, making this a prime spot if you're looking for a great venue for a comprehensive (gentleman’s) night out.
The Venue
This place has everything you'd expect from the Stringfellows brand but far grander than at the St Martins Lane branch. The upstairs has coves and seats stretching back to longer tables where you'll find diners. En route you’ll also see the poles where you may find the odd Angel dancing to the DJs selection.
The decor is an amalgam of golds and sultry reds, all on very comfortable seating with a bar upstairs and two downstairs, fixed around the DJ booth and the Angel stage (named because of the huge Angel statue behind it).
The Atmosphere
You'll find a well groomed crowd at Peter Stringfellow's Angels, democratically filtered by the door staff. Don’t expect entry if you’re looking scruffier than Rab C Nesbitt in the morning. The girls are very friendly, although some work hard to get private dances to separate you from your cash even if it is in good jest.
The Music
The music played by either an in-house DJ or sometimes a guest DJ or live PA (dance outfit Out Of Office performed at the venue late in 2007) you'll find a mix of hip hop, dance and various club tracks - the staple of West End nightlife. When the girls are dancing expect the tunes to vary, catering for the mood of the evening and what’s preferred by the girl.
The Food
Quality is not spared when it comes to the food menu at Peter Stringfellow's Angels with the steak (circa £20) being the house favourite with sea bass, sole, chicken and duck also available. If you've booked for dining, your entry is already complementary and expect great service.
The Last Word
A great joint for the gentlemen amongst us - and ladies, of course. A top venue for clubbing and girls, be sure not to hesitate if choosing this spot for its modestly priced food.
