My girlfriend booked the space at the back for her birthday, for a party of about 15. Having been there a while, the barman told us there was a 90 minute maximum to each booking or we had to spend £1500, something not mentioned previously. We were told we had to leave as there was another party arriving.
Having negotiated a little longer, we were then told in no uncertain terms to go, and accused of not paying for some food/ drink (bills left on a table where other people had been sitting but had since left).
Over-priced, thoroughly unpleasant staff, and a rediculous method of billing.

Pintxos are not from Barcelona... that in essence is wrong... and they are not tapas.... Pintxo are a basque tradition, specially in San Sebastian & Bilbao , homeland of the best and most elaborate ones, where competitions between bars are held yearly...
At Pix they don’t get the concept too well...and find quite surprising, the lack of Txakoli wine... for a Pintxos place.
Very average palce for a person that already knows the real deal.

Congratulations on a truly superb place at Covent Garden. It's not just the food and wonderful wine, but the service is first class.

Last year my partner and I were looking for a tapas bar and we quite literally stumbled on Pix. What a find! We were back again in July this year and were delighted to see that the lovely barman (who looks like Johnny Depp is still there) and still delivering great service. Service that is caring and listening to what we want. We were so looking forward to this second visit and we weren't disappointed. We sat in the window from 6.30pm until way after 11pm. Eating the wonderful tapas and enjoying the wonderful selection of wine.

I've recommended Pix to friends who will be going to London later this year.

Wishing Pix much success for the future. A great example of how a business should be run.

The tapas are exposed in a help yourself counter and anybody could sneeze on top of them - in the proper spanish tapas bars the tapas are always covered and protected for hygiene purposes.

The food overall is ok, but could be better... for the size of the tapas upi get we found them very overpriced! 5 tiny tapas and a bottled beer summed up over £18 so if you are after a proper meal and good food not recommended

Just visited Pix for the first time this evening. One of my friends has been on about it for ages and really wanted to go. I came along, having eaten a little earlier and wasn't going to part take. However, I'm glad I tried some of the dishes as they were all excellent. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The wine was really good too. I'm already planning to go back and just need to line up a date to make it worthwhile ;-)

I had my christmas party here last week and it was amazing. All that attended agreed with me. The staff are so freindly and the food was amazing. It has been a while since I have found a place in London so welcoming, so well done PIX. Really impressed. And thanks to all that worked that day! Merry Christmas.

I went to Pix with my Spanish girlfriend on Thursday 18.11.2010 at about 10pm. We went in and asked for a Mojito. Alas, no mint was left. So we asked for a Caipi. The guy at the bar took the 'phone, made a call and told us that there was no lime left. Then we left.

I`ve never been to the above restaurant but just thought I`d take a look at the reveiws. Your comments are rather puzzling, I think your friend may have been South American as none of the above mentioned are Spanish drinks, so why would they need to serve them?

@LollyDolly:
It's on the menue - so they should serve it, shouldn't they.

As someone who often has difficulty choosing only one meal from a menu, I really like the whole concept of Pix. You can pick a selection of dishes from those on offer (I also like the fact that the food is displayed for you to see) and at £2.50 per dish I think it is good value for money. I also enjoyed the atmosphere, which is very relaxed.

This tiny tapas bar opened recently in Covent Garden, taking the place of one of Neal Street's old cake shops. Initially it doesn't look like much - the few tapas samples sitting out in the window didn't particularly tempt me - but having been persuaded in by a friend I was very glad I gave it a try.

The wine here is served in authentic Spanish style stemless glasses, and is one of the best things about Pix. There's a good selection of top quality stuff, at reasonable prices.

The pintxos themselves are also very good, tasty and fresh, and made a great accompaniment to the wine. I notice another review mentions that the tapas cost £3 each, but currently they are priced at either £1.95 or £2.65 depending on the dish….. not sure if they’ve changed things recently but that seems like pretty good value to me.

The best time to visit this branch of Pix is in the summer, when you can sit out on the pavement in the bustle of Neal Street's shoe shopping crowd. We felt like we could easily have been in Madrid or Barcelona as we say there enjoying Pintxos on a sunny spring day. Great for an antidote to shopping!

These are really impressive pintxos (a range of yummy things on a stick normally stuck into a bit of bread). They are very stylish, and delicious. They are much flasher than the sort of pintxos you'd normally get in Spain (I've only had them in San Sebastian and Valencia). The chorizo on manchego with quince jelly is simple genius, and there was something quite delicious with foie and white chocolate.
We had great, friendly service (we went a few days in a row a few weeks after it opened), and the pintxos are clearly devised and put together with a lot of care. It was an excellent London take on a traditional basque dish.
However, along with that and its great location comes a pretty hefty London price tag. They were £3 each, or 2 for £5 at lunch, and I can't remember how much the wine and beer was, but I remember being a wee bit surprised by the price. The food is definitely worth it, hence I think 5 stars, but just pay attention to the drinks - maybe there are some cheaper options than what we ordered.
Still, the style of dining is the main attraction: you can browse and eat and drink at your own pace, instead of following the rigid sit, wait, order, wait, eat, wait, pay routine at traditional restaurants.
