I went to Pix on Saturday with my wife, admittally I haven't been to London for a night out for some years now, but I was not impressed by this Bar/restaurant - firstly the food is put out where anyone could sneeze, cough or anything else on the food, secondly the setting out of the food is badly set out, there's just not enough room - according to Pix's web site there are a choice of 26 hot and cold tapas, Who the hell are they kidding; you couldn't get the 26 dishes put out, there just wasn't the room, and there were no more that 12 dishes of tapas when we were there (8pm, not too early or late) 3 of which looked decidingly unattractive. We were shown to an area of the bar were you could just about sit 2 small children, and right by the food (good job my wife doesn't have dandruff) - the food looked ok, but nothing to write home about, but I will say the small deserts really looked nice. We decided that we did not really want to eat there, so after finishing our bottle of wine (a 2010 white rioja for £ 28.50 which was sadly no where near good enough for this price, it's a wine you would pay £ 6 -8 for in a off- licence, so how the hell do they justify £ 28.50 for this wine)i went to pay and was told that there would be a 12 1/2% service charge! What the hell are they playing at - firstly we did not eat, so how can you have a service charge, and secondly, when eating there you serve yourself, so how can they expect customers pay a service charge, what service? - it can't be for being served drinks, I don't know of any pub/bar where you have to pay a service charge for drinks. Overall, Pix/restaurant needs a major overhall - if you want tapas I would suggest you try other tapas bars - not this one.

I'm a fan of pintxo bars generally, and think Pix is fantastic, so I find it somewhat unfair when people criticise a concept that they clearly don't understand.

"the food is put out where anyone could sneeze, cough or anything else on the food" - It's a tapas bar - Have you ever been to Spain? You've clearly visited their website, so I would have thought this would be obvious to even the most unintuitive of individuals.

As far as the pricing and service charge goes, as you say, you clearly haven't been out in London for some time. You will not find a single restaurant (and Pix is a restaurant, just because you chose not the eat doesn't turn it into a pub), that doesn't charge service.

If it looked so unattractive, overpriced and badly organised, why bother ordering a whole bottle of wine (which is available by the glass) in the first place?

Maybe pintxo bars aren't for everyone, but you can see exactly what you're getting from the second you walk in.

If it wasn't what you wanted - you should have just left and given the space up to one of Pix's many appreciative customers - like me.

My girlfriend and I visited Pix towards the end of last year, and really enjoyed it. Agreed with the reviewer who rated the music. As a fan of Mancunian musical heritage, the chosen tracks were much to my taste, as were the lovely tapas dishes! The staff were friendly and accommodating too.

I went to Pix two days ago and had a great night. The little Tapas were very delicious and the guy behind the bar made me my favourite cocktail even when it wasn't on the menu. will be back this weekend for sure

Sorry plawlor, that was a mistake at the end of the review, I meant top ten restaurants in Soho. Top ten restaurants in Bateman St don't make much sense! Message to self, don't review after a couple of glasses of wine.

Also I meant to give Pix 5 stars which I have now done.

This place is new so it's a little unfair to review it as if it had been going for ages; there's still plenty of little wrinkles to be ironed out. Nevertheless it was very enjoyable: good food and an excellent atmosphere. In time I believe that Pix will come to be considered as one of Bateman street's top ten restaurants.

Not sure what this reviewer is on about.... Acknowledgement of the good food and excellent service, topped and tailed with sneering insults without any detail to support them. And it looks as if they only joined the site to post those comments.

Well, as a Soho local who eats out 5 days a week in the area, all I can say is that I visited Pix about two weeks ago when it first opened, and have been back twice already.

On every occasion the food has been fresh and delicious, the service exceptionally friendly, and everyone has raved about it.

I can only assume that the person who wrote this has some kind of grudge with the business. Perhaps they were fired because they were more interested in a career as a comedian?

Great atmosphere, music, food and most of all staff! Went there on Saturday and was so so impressed. The staff were really friendly and attentive, and the array of pintxos were fresh and constantly changing. I would certainly recommend this for anyone heading out in Soho who wants something a little more interesting. Can't wait to go back!!
