Pretentious and unwelcoming atmosphere, rude staff and dull food. Definitely will not be returning.

I've just read some of previous reviews and was really disappointed!

I was in Nottinghill Gate for the day yesterday and had lunch there. Best mussels I've ever had!

Superb chips! Excellent wine! Service was also very good! Sat outside in the sunshine! Perfect lunchtime!!!!!

Avoid at all costs. The pub was full of very drunk and aggressive people.

The food was awful, and the staff flippant about our complaints (still frozen in the middle!).

Stay away at all costs.

If you would like to have a lovely meal and you don't care to much about interior design it is definitely good place to go. I have tried fish (delicious seafood!) and meat and all was fantastic! Not to mansion desserts! It's just a such a shame service really let to wish. Slow, forgettable, paying no attention. We could actually leave without paying our bill. It seams they don't have time to serve people.

I have recommended The Gold to my friends as we wanted to spend a nice evening in this area. It was mistake. Food lovely - no doubts. But there is a big but called service. We have been served by 5 different people - which was maybe a good think at the end of the day - as we got finally and luckily 1 person who knew what is happening around and had a minimum of knowledge about menu and service.
1. No one sat us. No one even took any notice of us! Waiter appeared after about 20 min asking us if we have been served! It took us a while to pull together and answer as his appearance was quite shocking - imagine not a very fresh looking S Dali - Notting Hill Folklore? He gave us different menus and we couldn't work out which ones are the right ones. The guy proofed to be useless as all of them were wrong.
2. Then a girl - looking like a Queen of boudoir. Black and huge pink roses. Mesmerising and opulent. The only pity is that she is completely avoiding any contact with people and to order from her isn't rather possible. When she serves new drinks - she never collects the old glasses and bottles so you end up looking for places to stick the unwanted empty stuff. It took ages to place an order as waiters kept saying if you need me give me a shout and it looked as we supposed really to shout as we didn't see anyone for at least 25 min. At least a nice and well mannered guy took our order. If you decide to take a risk and visit this place please listen to my advise and ask for Christian!
3. We have been approached also by a male version of Amy Winehouse. I mean it - same look, same behaviour.
4. A girl with a trendy hair cat - she definitely doesn't like her job and she was shaped for something else (celebrity?)but she will do you a favour and serve you if you will be good!
Within 3 hours we have been approached by 5 (yes, five) waiters. We weren't bothered to leave a tip. To who? All five? Despite food was really great - I don't think any of us will ever come

The Portabello Gold is an amazing pub, really friendly staff, chatty locals always with an interesting story to tell, good food and most importantly really great cocktails. If you go there you would have to be mad to miss out on their Portabello yellow, best cocktail, EVER!

Portobello Gold is a great venue and the food is absolutely delicious, it's just a shame that the restaurant service is so appalling. We were constantly getting up to go to the bar to order drinks rather than waiting for someone to come to our table, one person's meal was forgotten and no apology was forthcoming. Instead we got a shrug of the shoulders and It's not my fault I'm not the in the kitchen response.

The truly terrible waiting staff mean that I would never be tempted to eat at Portobello Gold again.

The Portobello Gold is a really friendly bar with a fantastic selection of beer and a great wine list. They also have a very handy wireless network (useful for business meetings). I would definitely recommend The Portobello Gold.

Apparently, Portobello Gold is where Clinton used to drink. Thankfully, Bill’s gone back home now and Portobello Gold is just a really cool place to hang out in Notting Hill.
