Went for a Wednesday night drink at Positively 4th Street the other day as I kept going past it on the bus, and was really surprised at just how nice it was!

I've hung around a few bars in New York in my time, and this definitely has a good combination of dark, sexy decor, comfy seats with enough privacy for a couple and enough space for a group, a good selection of drinks. The cocktail list is by no means the limit by the look of things, and I don't know too many places around Euston that proudly display Parfait Amour and Creme de Banane behind the bar.

The barman was friendly and chatty, and the customers all young and relaxed, and plenty were foreign (a few homesick Americans). You're allowed to smoke in Positively 4th Street, though the high ceilings and cute fans (I'm told they're the same as the ones in Raffles - home of the Singapore Sling) mean that you're never choked, unlike some pubs in London.

I've always been fascinated by the name Positively 4th Street and it's proclamation that it is a 'real New York Bar in London', Having always wanted to visit New York, I was always very keen to check this bar out. And I was not let down.

This bar has a very cool, relaxed funky vibe. The setting and lighting is chilled out and the swinging fans are a nice touch.
The dance area downstairs although small, is lots of fun and the music on the Friday night I went was wicked.

I had a great time at this bar. It is unpretentious and very hip. Positively fun.
