Oh it's alright. But I'm afraid the other reviewers are quite right about the service: it is sullen and begrudging.

Yes, the setting is pleasant and relaxed and my free mini-sandwich was delicious. The drinks (last night, this is) were also rather good, and quickly served up. But our two choices showed the menu to be a bit hit and miss: my salted negroni was really tasty, unusual, smooth and prepared with great care; my friend's bellini, though, really lacked flavour.

Of course, the bar could easily get away with the up-and-down merchandise if it served it up with a bit of grace. But I'm afraid the cheerlessness of it all puts me right off. I don't want to sound old fashioned, but surely bars need to at least give the impression that they welcome your custom?

Overall, I don't hate it as others clearly have, but it's no where near fantastic either. If you're in the area and don't mind a spot of resentment with your cocktail, then pop in. If not, there's places that do this whole thing much much better.

Having visited Purl recently and having read a lot about it the expectations were high. That said the place is awesome, not only is the ambience perfect but the drinks they serve are like northing I have seen before. The Mr Hydes served in a potion bottle not only had the theatre but tasted great... just my kind of drink. Great drinks, service and the knowledge of the bartenders is amazing. Will be back soon...

Incredible bar, with incredible drinks. Quite simply the best bar in London at the moment. Think dry ice, liquid nitrogen, Victorian decor, wax sealed potion bottles and very talented bartenders.

Love the review below... 1 star because you couldn't get in?! Ha-ha.

Had the same experience i'm afraid. Useless service and not worth going to. Take my advice and take your money elsewhere..unless you actually like rude, ill-educated staff and poor service!

Rubbish Service to begin with!

called to reserve and confirmed a table a week in advance. When I reach there with a group of friends, was told that the place was booked for a private party 3 month ago, and we cannot stay! No one can offer me a explanation of why they confirm the appointment with me (twice on the phone) one week ago, or even a decent apology. In fact, most people there were just avoiding even talking to us!!

So much for a new cocktail bar in town, thanks very much for ruining my Saturday.

Avoid and take your money elsewhere.

there are plenty of alternatives around that area, and many with the right attitude to begin with.
