The ViewLondon Review
If vodka is your favourite tipple and you love a lively night out, then Revolution Bar is definitely worth checking out.
The Venue
The whole venue is fairly high-tech, with a huge stainless steel bar and an industrial chic feel. There are large mirrors on the rear wall giving the illusion of endless space and the dining area has plenty of seating if you aren’t one to hang around the bar, and there are also some comfy chairs and banquettes if you fancy settling in. If you're in the mood for a bit of a boogie, there is also a club area upstairs which plays dance music and R&B.
The Atmosphere
Classic chill-out music fills the room during daytimes, which is replaced with something more upbeat after dark. Weekends, predictably, are very busy with the speakers blaring out the latest dance tunes, with a bit of dirty pop thrown in for good measure. Revolution has a fairly young clientele - the age range is predominantly early-to-mid-twenties. It gets busy here at the weekends, but don’t let that put you off - it’ s a great place for groups of friends to get together and unwind on a night out.
The Food
With a great range of grub you are really spoilt for choice, and with specials like 2-4-1 burgers and pizzas, it won’t hit your wallet too hard either. The platters are a good choice if you fancy sharing; prices are under £10 for a large plate of wings, onion rings, wedges, tortilla and dips. For a quick snack, the fish finger sandwich is definitely worth trying. With mains costing around £8 you can enjoy delights like pie and mash with loads of veg and buttery mash covered in a rich wine gravy. There are also some less calorific choices and a decent choice of desserts and coffees if you have room.
The Drink
As a manufacturer of their own vodka drinks, Revolution has an ever growing choice of quirky tastes to try, from birthday cake and bubblegum flavours to chilli, which is a personal favourite and thankfully one that tastes better than it sounds. Beers and lagers are not forgotten, with a solid choice on draft including San Miguel, Stella and Becks, and Peroni, Fosters and Stella in bottles. There is also a comprehensive wine list available, but to be honest, the main focus is on vodka, cocktails and shots.
The Last Word
This Revolution is a good example of a successful high street bar for young, fun-loving people in their early twenties.
