Don’t let the name mislead you, The Ring has no association with the 2002 horror flick, but is a trendy pub that borrows it’s name from the legendary boxing ring that used to stand across from it.

The Venue
The Ring is a lovely modern pub, nestled in Southwark, standing opposite the slick London Development agency and adjacent to Southwark tube station, and is open for business from 11am-11pm everyday. Sit on the outdoor benches and watch the people go by, feel the breeze of the Thames as you enjoy a drink, or head indoors for a meal on the suede seats, whilst enjoying your favourite sport on a plasma screen. The black painted walls are dotted with black and white photos of boxing stars, which reinforce the theme behind the venue. The frame, suede, lamps and wooden bar gives this pub a warm feel.

The Atmosphere
Expect to find friendly staff who hold a large variety of drinks with English and Thai cuisine on the offering. The Ring embraces a lively crowd, anyone from locals, professionals or passers by. It is busy at lunch and after 5pm when professionals who work in the area come down for drinks and something to eat. The venue is a safe haven from the hustle and bustle of a busy city, it’s laid back, comfortable yet stylish and creates an ambience that infuses the traditional pub with the atmosphere of a bar.

The Food
The Ring specialises in English and Thai dishes, lunch is served 12pm-3pm or come later for dinner. You can find a large variety of dishes on the menu, including burgers, sandwiches, steak, curry, stir fry, noodles, seafood and more. The popular dishes here are the pies or bangers and mash, served with rosemary carrots and an assortment of steamed vegetables. The average price for a meal ranges from £6.50-£7.50.

The Drink
Find your way to the generous dark wood bar and you’ll find all the drinks you’d hope to find at a pub. With prices standing at £3.50 for a beer, you could find yourself with one of the foreign Lagers or a Heineken in your hand, or why not give the Van Diest Fruli Strawberry a try?

The Last Word
The Ring is a great place to unwind, it’s central, trendy, easy going without the pretence of some West End venues. A good place to enjoy a drink or grab a bite any day of the week!
