The ViewLondon Review
An ultra glamorous club featuring unrivalled views across London and more than an acre of lush gardens, The Roof Gardens is once again looking its best inside and out.The VenuePrepare to be impressed at The Roof Gardens which is owned by none other than Sir Richard Branson himself. To access the club you'll need to take the lift to the sixth floor where London's glamorous clubbers are greeted with a smile and then left to explore the club and its gardens. The spacious nightclub itself is light, airy and fresh. Smokers soak up the view in the scenic gardens which are unsurprisingly the most impressive part of the club. Dating back to 1936 they feature winding pathways, lush greenery, plenty of seating, bars, a barbecue area and of course, those famous flamingos.
The VIP area of the club is separated by an illuminated strand curtain that enables mere mortals to glimpse the rich and famous who appear to be permanently in residence. The rest of the club is just as impressive with its crystal chandeliers, white, silver and pink makeover (inspired by the flamingos?) and a shimmering feature wall of real silver inlaid with tiles and full length mirrors.
The AtmosphereThis is where the glamorous go to watch and be watched. The crowd is a mixed bunch of famous people (Jade Jagger and Sienna Miller made a recent visit), relatively young successful types and even younger Paris Hilton wannabes. There is plenty of eye candy for both men and women and everyone dresses to impress. The general atmosphere is exclusive yet not intimidating – the specially designed mood lighting gives The Roof Gardens a nice intimate atmosphere and there are plenty of areas to mingle and strut.
The MusicYou'll find some of clubland's biggest names behind the decks. Groove Armada's Andy Cato kept revellers on the dancefloor until the early hours at the relaunch party, setting the standard for some seriously good nights.
If you're in need of a break from the dancefloor, head out to the gardens where you can cool down in the themed tranquility whilst listening to live bands.
The DrinkDrinks are priced quite reasonably for a Kensington club at around £8 for a glass of champagne. Alongside the usual beers and spirits you'll also find an array of cocktails worth sampling - The Roof Gardens is far too glamorous to merely stick to your usual V and T.
The Last WordThe Roof Gardens is an effortlessly chic club which never fails to impress. Sipping a flute of champagne outside in the gardens you'll feel a world away from the hectic city life six floors beneath your feet.
