Went to the KRGs with a (male) friend on Saturday who got us on the guest list - both expecting a novel, special and fun filled night. He invited two other (male) friends to join us but the additional guest were declined as there has to be one female accompanying every male....what if they were gay and partners? Seems a little odd to me but they were adamant and did not budge from their decision to refuse entry. We arrived at 10pm, paid our £25 entry we walked in to a sparsely filled club. Checked out the "one and a half acres" of gardens instead. The spanish looking garden was pleasant but no sign of a flamingo in sight. the other gardens that are unrecognisable in the evening were less impressive and full of dinning tables from the £60 bbq. And what a surprise, the male/female entry policy had been ignored as there were at least 3 tables of Hen parties, not the classy joint I was expecting. The drinks weren't particularly special but expect to spend £10 per drink. Or splash out £600 for a jeroboam/£160 on a bottle of vodka. The clientele ranged from daddy's girls to fat, old wealthy (male) euro trash looking to snare whatever they could. Not a goodlooking guy/girl in sight! Thought it was going to be chic and had a panic the night before about what to wear and the shame of being turned away. All I will say is jeans/heels are fine. No one looked special or beautiful and I am so glad that didn't waste my little black dress on this place. My friend and I did however notice that some of the guys had made an extra special effort and donned a pashmina?? And before I forget, the VIP Moo room - I had a peek through the £1 shop beaded curtains and yes, it was aptly named and full of cows in cheap looking rags. The music is main stream pop and the dance floor quite small.Final word: IF you have more money than sense and are looking for a dull evening, KRGs is the place to head. A cheaper and more fun option would be drinking in the park with mp3 in hand.
Awesome club, great atmosphere and crowd. Massive queue but we got there stupidly early to beat that!! There was a cute little spanish band playing in the garden too :) Great for a night to remember.
What's the fuss is all that I'm left asking...
Granted, the location and style of this venue are awesome... but the pretence and ambience leave much to be desired. The gardens are beautiful to chill in, but the views are hindered by the walls that surround. The decor borders on glam-kitch - with marble floors and pink fluorescent lighting... and a crowd that tries too hard to be sexy/cool. The music was rubbish - tasteless techno that you cannot groove to - though many do try. Give me a warehouse vibe with funky beats any day...
Just have to say - I went to the Roof Gradens last Saturday and had the most amazing night!!!
Had to queue for a Bit but it was well worth it! The Club is stunning and the gardens are beautiful and great if you smoke like me :)
The music was awesome, they had a percussionist playing with the DJ which made such a difference!
You have to try the burgers from the BBQ too - they're great - just what you need at the end of the night!!
Hi,
Well I've been to the roof garden, a saturday...
Some people told me that it's a cool club...
Well let's see!?
Oh my god, it was just boring, empty, and the quality of music doesn't make you in a mood to dance...so, if you are like me, if you go out mainly to enjoy music, ambiance, i won't tell you to go there...
The decor is really good, gardens are really good too, but I get bored there!
And i'm telling you, i am not a difficult girl!!!
Simply awful, expensive and a waste of time. Aggressive door staff who are barely literate and on a power trip seem to think they are guarding something of value. Having arrived at 10:00pm the queue was around the block and we were told the club was "at capacity" by 10:45pm. The guestlist is useless as it does not guarantee entry nor any discount.
Fellow "clubbers" look and sound like hen and stag parties (respectively) down from Essex for the day, taking styling cues from S-Club juniors and Hollyoaks (men should not wear neckerchiefs).
3 of us (2 girls, 1 boy) had got ourselves on the GuestlistME guest list and arrived around 11. There were two queues outside which were moving pretty slowly. We asked one of the bouncers which queue we should be in and gave the name of the guest list and he pointed us to the queue. We stood in line for about 45 minutes. When we got to the head of the queue we were told we were in the wrong queue and had to queue at the back again on the other side! This, despite their bouncer misguiding us! Got annoyed at that point and went to Eclipse in Kensington to spend our money. Can't deal with idiots like that at the door, so won't going to Roof Gardens again!
The Kensington Roof Gardens experience didn’t disappoint. Well maybe just a little.
The service was pretty good, the venue was excellent and the menu looked great. Unfortunately my starter came out cold and our bottle of white started off at room temperature but as a whole it was a good experience.
Roof Gardens is a wonderful place to go. Very chic and cosy, including the people partying in it! The music is good, the place is really unusual and the price is really worth it, so don't be afraid to spend money for such a beautiful club like this one !
The Roof Gardens is such a plush place. Admittedly, this review is very late coming as I last went in the summer and I'm guessing that's the best time to go as we spent an afternoon basking in the sun and it was amazing! Seriously, if you haven't been to the Roof Gardens yet I urge you to go as it is so nice being able to see over London while you smell the air and drink your beautifully made drink. Such a nice time had by all.
Yeah, Roof Gardens is a decent club in London! When I say decent, I of course mean somewhere that looks great, has plenty of space and doesn't cram 'em in like sardines.
So it's pricey (£20.00 on the guest list), but no more than the other London hot spots that never fail to disappoint time and again.
If you don't fancy sharing a weeny dance floor next to alcopop-swilling teeny-boppers, come to Roof Gardens.
If I could give the Roof Gardens a minus score I would! I went there a few weeks ago & it's my worse club experience ever. The music was awful & the prices they charge for drinks are just a joke! They can't even get their PR right, they told me it was Funky House all night & it ended up 80's & early 90's! Never ever going to the Roof Gardens again...
Impressario Richard Branson once more excellently flings the hat of entrepreneurialism into the ring by revamping Kensington Roof Gardens. Thursday evening’s apprehensions dissolved as avant-garde aficionados promenaded into the inviting hospitality at the Roof Gardens.
An obsession with the rare is now at its peak and the caviar-like rarity of outdoor alfresco dancing in these Gardens of Babylon is what summons titillating tribes of party aficionados from far afield.
I was guzzling down champagne with some chums and had the pleasure of meeting charismatic Fran Cosgrove, doyen of the incomparable Trap. Fashionista tribes and new-media heavyweights flocked and cavorted unbridled and uncensored to soulful funk tinged with rhythm and blues.
Roof Gardens is where you can drink the finest cocktails without having to shell out astronomical sums. A refreshing gem of a club as compared to the trashy tourism throwaway clubs mushrooming in and around Leicester Square which will only be a crude map of dishevelled memories a few months down the line.
In my opinion, Thursdays at Roof Gardens capture the zeitgeist of a generation.
We were invited to the club by a friend, who is a member. The door staff were friendly and helpful. Once inside the ratio was 60/40 to the girls. The music was pumping and the crowd were in a party mood. Dress code was very relaxed (but not street). The decor was very clean and plush, and inviting. We had a great time and I will be signing up for my membership.

We were on the guestlist at the Roof Gardens through a webflyer; £15 pounds. When I called directly on the day itself, they pretended to be full. When we tried to get in, suddenly it became £20 pounds for an obscure reason without a good explanation.
The handbag and purse of a girl were checked without a good reason, apparently for drugs, but the guys nor the other girl in the party nor her coat were checked again without any good explanation.
The club was only three quarters full. Inside there were many ordinary guys with sport shoes and jeans, quite vulgar clothes. The venue was clean and the music good. Nice garden but chilly in autumn. The drinks ok.
This club pretends to attract nice upmarket people, but by pretending this, you won`t find them here.
This is not value for money.
I think a fair price to get in would be £10-£15 pounds on Friday and Saturday, £10 pounds on Thursday. £20 pounds is definitely too much.
Maybe Richard Branson might consider this.
