I have been to the Rosemary Branch a few times and have always enjoyed the food, drinks and the friendly service from the bar staff even when the pub itself is packed.
The bar is left under staffed every now and again but the staff help maintain a good friendly atmosphere.
I sadly have never been to the theatre but my friends say it an experience in its self.
my only other comment is if you are a male customer, i would recommend going to the toilet at home first as the only toilet cubical does not have a lock and the urinals lack room and are so close together you feel like your a peeping tom when someones is using the one next to you.

Cash onlyvery lengthy service Rather cold welcomingon Sunday, 24th of July 2011- Stopped at the Rosemary Branch for a pub lunch with friends visiting from abroad.- As it was Sunday we fancied a roast dinner. We expected a lot of costumers around midday but we were the first coming for food. - We ordered drinks but I had to go and get cash from a dispenser two streets down as the establishment used only cash (?)- The specials of the day were only being written down as we were choosing the menu (on a sunday lunchtime I would have thought this would had already been done)- One of the brews was cloudy and packed with some deposit and had to be changed (visibly the clot of some dirty pipe in the pump).- As we finally got the server to come and take orders another few table got occupied.- Orders done (easy traditional lamb roast, chicken breasts). More people sitting around tables (inside and outside).- At some point I even saw someone dressed as a cook helping setting up tables outside the pub. Should she have been looking after cooking and getting orders sorted?- Servers coming along bringing food. Yam. Oops that's not ours!- Second round and third and fourth. Most people who arrived after our lot got server before us.- After over an hour we finally got our plates served without - I must say - much apologies for the long delays.- And the size of the portions were not very comforting either. So I wouldn't recommend Rosemary Branch to anyone unless the staff makes genuine effort to be a bit more welcoming and that the team runs a quicker service. Not forgetting that Sunday is a day of greater affluence.

We went to the Rosemary Branch last Thursday on our work Christmas do. The food was tasty, the pub was interesting and the pantomime upstairs in the little theatre was fun, a bit risque and thoroughly enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this pub and the theatre to anybody looking for a bit of a different night out.

Having visited the pub on numerous occasions and eaten there several times it is without doubt one of the most pleasant places in Islington.

A walk along the canal takes you away from the frenetic activity of Upper St and the service, food and drinks make the whole experience perfect.

The Rosie is a wonderful boozer, itis exactly that, not a fancy poncy gastro house, but a traditional yet arty pub.

great selection of real ales and beers, wine list isn't the best but is good. and large selection of whiskies too.

the food is simple but done very well, hearty grub!the staff have always been very friendly and helpful and actually seem to appreciate the fact they work in a a fantastic independent pub.

The theatre upstairs seems to be busy every time i go in, and i'll be going myself very soon.the walls are covered in art, mirrors, taxidermy and ears, yes ears.there is a quiz, and an array of board games available to play.

I think the rosemary branch is the best pub for miles around and i will continue to spend my time there.

Paul.

Rosemary Branch is my new local having only just moved to the area. I’ve been in a handful of times and have always enjoyed it.
Has a good mixture of people from De Beauvoir Town, new apartment blocks, and cool warehouse pads too.

Rosemary Branch is a lovely pub, with some great food and has a small space upstairs which hosts some interesting live performances.

I've heard some good things about the Rosemary Branch but can anyone advise me whether it's worth me travelling half way across london just to go there? Any Rosemary Branch regulars out there?

The Rosemary Branch is the best pub in the area; really nice inside with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The Rosemary Branch has good beer (including Ridleys IPA, Rumpus and Starobrno pilsner) and the food is also really good with lots to choose from. There is also a theatre upstairs that has good live productions.
Overall the Rosemary Branch is a really nice place to go.

Thank you very much for such a lovely review. Identify yourself next time you are in as I would like to buy you a drink. Cecilia
