I know that to a lot of people the Roxy can be a lot of different things, they have cinema nights and press nights (i was trying to have a cheeky pint when they were trying to have a release for some video game), there’s food and that, but it’s the title and it comes first, it’s Roxy bar and screen. And to be fair they have a fully stocked bar. The small gangway of bar is made wider by enormous mirrors which flank one wall, and behind must be every bottle ever or something, ha ha. All I know is that they made me nice Martini no fuss and a Bramble for my girlfriend, again without any hesitation, which was nice. They push Tiger beer pretty heavily, with branded fridges and sometimes the staff even wear branded tee’s. I suppose what sets it apart is two things, one if you ask to have a jaeger bomb on fire, or an Irish car bomb, the staff seem to enjoy setting fire to liquor as much as I like drinking it, and second is the interior, its all draped in cinema esque red velvet and that. Well worth a look if you’re south of the river. Oh yeah, any two cocktails, £7. On point.

I stumbled across the Roxy with a friend last Friday. we were looking for something other than yet another greasy boozer typical of the south of the river. there were a few people smoking outside and we thought, yea why not. the place was pretty full but the service was still quick. the bar tenders were a right laugh and spent most of the night making cocktails involving fire.

the whole night worked out quite cheaply as they did two cocktails for 7.50 until midnight. definitely recommendable for classy drinks in good surroundings without feeling the aching wallet the morning after

I went to see Halloween at the Roxy on, you guessed it, Halloween. And, well, it was really good. We, double dating, we’re given a booth for the fourth of us, which was pleasantly secluded, and had a lovely view. The sound is on point, the screen is big (it’s a proper cinema screen) and they pull the curtains when the film starts, killing any ambient light or chit chat from the bar. The benefit of this I when you’re drink goes dry you can go to the bar without disrupting anyone, and get a round in. Its obvious completion is the Prince Charles, and this is where they differ, the Prince Charles is a cinema which serves beer in a plastic cup, and the Roxy is a bar where you can have a Manhattan or a Stella and watch a film. The seating isn’t cinema seating, which is great, that means deep couches and little booths. Some times the films end a little unceremonsly, but whatever, the playlist covers recent releases to cult classics. I never thought I’d see Buster Keaton on the big screen too!

The Roxy is a lovely bar south of the river, abit off the beaten track but a great place to enjoy a cocktail and a number of different evenings. I have been here a few times and its always been something different, a video DJ or live jazz band. Just last week was an independent film night where there was a question and answer session with the directors.

If your looking for something different then the Roxy is for you

I was told that there is a cinema on Borough high street which shows football matches on its cinema screen. And while this isn’t wholly true it’s actually better, there’s a fully stocked bar there too, just in case you get thirsty. I must admit, being a Liverpool fan, that many of my visits have been bitterly tainted by our repeated defeats, but that aside there’s nothing like watching a bit of football on a screen that size. If you want a couch you probably have to book, but I prefer to be by the bar anyway. There’s a second large projector showing a different game (if the clash) and it’s easy to watch both at the same time. Stand up place.

Visited last weekend and was disappointed for a second time: ants in the ice cubes, the worst mojito I've ever had (3 mint leaves were added at the end!) and white chocolate martini without the white chocolate liqueur. Will not be returning.

Not so cool this roxy I'm afraid. We were specifically asked about our preference for either sofa or tables, so we said sofas. Upon arrival we had to watch a group of people gasp in awe as they had been accidentally been seated in our place. "Oh look they gave us the sofas" the lady cried as our party of eight was pushed on to a small table of six and then the bar manager persisted in telling the waitress in front of us that "some people will try to do that to you so they get extra chairs" (he did this with clear vision of myself who was standing right next to him). Instead of apologising for his mistake and rectifying it he mumbled something about customers while staring at the floor. All of our party agreed that they were disappointed with the rudeness and unprofessional behaviour of the staff and definitely wouldn't be coming again, or bringing any clients to a place that can't keep track of their reservations.

The Roxy Bar and Screen has matured and established itself in the three years since it quietly made itself known just south of the rI'ver.

No frontage bling, just a subtle, almost something you would pass by facade with Roxy on a pillar just inside.

The staff are great as is the food which is sourced from local vendors as fresh as you'll ever get and it has a seriously cool ambiance.

Cocktails from heaven or an ice cold one, whatever your poison, you will not disappointed...

...oh and I almost forgot to mention....The Roxy has the best film screening facilities ive ever come across in a bar!!!

Stunning images, incredible sound and a run of such diverse screenings, there is always something for everyone at some point.

If you stop at Sainsbury's going south on Borough, your short of a great night out, if you get to Costa? you've missed a great night out.

Somewhere just between the two and you will wonder why you haven't been frequenting the Roxy Bar and screen for the past three years!!

Roxy is a sexy and stylish place to hang out, with great staff, great food, great drinks and great movie screenings for free! So close to London Bridge station and Borough High Street, it's the perfect place to go and chill with friends. Love their summer coffee, Costa eat your heart out!

Roxy is a cool place to have a few drinks and just chill. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff are dead friendly. Roxy has a good range of drinks and all in all the venue is quality.

The kitchen has finally opened at Roxy and I will be going there this weekend. After all the problems I'm glad it's sorted as I have been looking forward to having a meal at Roxy for ages.
