This is one horrible place to eat! Prices are high and food is no good. Water is £5 and tea is £10. Even if food was served free I would not eat it!

I Have been in Uzbek cuisine before in London. all the others gave an impression of breakfast roadside cafes rather than a restaurant.
This one was very different: great food, lovely staff and fair variety of cocktails.
Food was delicious. I had two course meal: soup and manti(dumplings) which were awesome.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Strangely the number of staff was too many for the number of customers, which i guess is a good thing.
Bar is relatively small occupied by very friendly barman. I am not a very much drink person, maybe thats why he looked very impressive to me. I loved the mojito.
by the way, loved the music too: mix of smooth European and traditional Asian.
well done, very nice experience. very recommended...
at least for the people who love Central Asian cuisine...

We just come back from the restaurant.
Great interior. Nice music. Interesting atmosphere - even a bit exotic.
Unfortunately we had to wait for 45min for our starter.
Small portions arrived. Hot food was only warm. Small portions.
Waiters extremely unorganised, but friendly. No management around, which could have established some structure.
Main courses were not good (very salty, over spiced, too small, not hot). Cocktails Ok. However again big waiting times in between.
Despite good atmosphere overpriced. Will not go back.

When I was on business in Moscow. I was taken to some Uzbek restaurant don't remember its name, It was a bit heavy but delightful. One of my favorite dishes were "lagman" and "manty". I am glad it is finally available in London. I first was a bit not to sure going to Samarqand, however after finding some pictures of the restaurant on the net we decided to check it out. Very central, I mean how more central could it be behind Selfridges. Food was amazing just like in that Moscow restaurant. I now realize now why so many Russian girls are there. Suggest to chase this food with vodka a lot better then wine. 100% from me! Go and wont regret!

Couldn't disagree with some of these reviews more. My friend & I turned up at 10pm on Thursday night, the door man was smiling and polite, the place was packed with good looking people eating & having a good time. Great friendly vibe had a bit of a wait at the bar to get a table. But the food was something special, delicious and exotic not expensive at all! Very friendly staff trying to deliver their best. A fantastic night can't wait to go back.

stylish design, but service is quite haphazard: the lady (non-Russian speaking) who was serving our table was very good, and the rest of the stuff ... spoke Russian

The quality of the food was rather good, but portions for the prices charged were minuscule. The restaurant is trying to be haute cuisine, but what the owners do not seem to appreciate is that central asian cuisine does not lend itself in the slightest to haute cuisine treatment - it is meant to be simply done, tasty and in abundance!

I really hope the restaurant will pick up, but too things that I see need to happen: waiters need to get their act together; and the portions grow in size, without compromise on quality.

i have been waiting for a try my country cusine . today i been to samarqand restaurant with my friends. because i would love to show the restaurant to my friends . design was very cool . but service was rubbish. all the staff were don't know what they have to do. we asked for drinks more than 3 times , we had order bread for starter but we got bread end of the main course. food is extremely expensive and portion of the food is very small. if it was huge we don't mind to pay as much as more. and in they dessert menu has got only 4 items for choice. but they say only ice cream was avaible. after that we decided to get bill. they charged us £11.50 for only small portion plov . and we paid like a £200.00 for our bill (4 of us). plus £22 for service charge. we don't feel full. and it was shame to me . because i was invite my friends. i would never recomment to any one

I believe you were there at the very beginning, portions were quite dissent when we went there and service was OK. All openings are a night mare mate. I would not pay service if it was terrible, service in this country is discretionary. After reading your review I got really concerned we nearly canceled the booking, however we gave it a go and It went really well, we loved it. Try again mate and try their new red rise pilaw.
