I first discovered Sam's last week when I visited with a few work colleagues. I'd heard a lot of good things about the place through other people and review sites. We were immediately impressed by the decor and the warm and friendly greeting we were met with by the manageress and our waiter. The menu read well (with lots of choice for carnivores and veggies) and it serves as both the menu and your placemat - which I thought was cute. I had the confit duck with lentils and the mango baked alaska- both of which were truly delicious (my work friends food also looked equally as yummy!) I'll definitely be back again very soon.
Very average!
I have been frequenting Sam's since it first opening although I haven't been for a while.
I took a group of colleagues last week and was very disappointed with both the service and the menu choice.
After being seated, we had a very long wait before our waitress had to be asked to take our food order .............she had to also be prompted to take the wine order too!
The menu was very boring and bland - I know it's January but doesn't mean we don't want a bit of variety!
I hope Sam's was just having a bad night because I think it is (or was) one of West London best eateries.
Consistently good and never lets me down. Somethings get better with age and I think this is the case with good local restaurants and for me Sam's is case in point
Menu changes daily so always interesting and the service is always attentive and friendly
My kind of place
I had a meal at Sam's Brasserie on a Wednesday night and it was fab. There is a great mix of clientele there, some business meeting/dinners, some young trendy couples, some family style meals. A great spot to people watch. I ate in the restaurant, but I often sit in the bar, as there are nice booths and table service as well.
The food we had was excellent, very simple and yet very well executed. I tried the Coln Valley salmon as a starter was superb quality and beautifully presented. Then a risotto primavera was cooked perfectly, with the right amount of 'bite' to both the rice and the vegetables... delicious! I tasted a pavlova for dessert, that was chewy and crunchy, with a creamy mascarpone topping and ripe berries... YUM!
Rick Stein had a hand in the creation of Sam’s Brasserie & Bar. Although I can't say I would know what Rick Stein’s hand would look like so I didn’t notice when I went.
What I did notice was a great menu with lots of seafood. I had the roast plaice with grey shrimps and Garam Masala which was magnificent. If you like seafood I’d definitely try Sam’s Brasserie!
