Fantastic! I spent the whole evening there and i loved it!
After breaking out with my boyfriend i never thought i would be so happy by the end of the night.
I got there about 8pm the bar staff were amazing and very welcoming! I had the best cocktails of my life, i still remember their names Fabio and Miguel, well done guys by the way they are very good looking! Then i had some food and it was delicious definitely one of the best partridges Ive ever had.
Later the Gypsy Hill were playing and what an amazing band!
If lived near i would be there all the time!
I've been to Secret Garden before and after the refurb/change in ownership, somehow, from a 'local boring and smelly pub' the new management have managed to turn it into an amazing venue. Be it a Saturday night or a Tuesday afternoon, there's always something to entertain you. There's always something exciting on fri/sat/sun nights, live bands, djs, karaoke and more. Although, Secret Garden is not only about the weekend, it is an amazing place to spend the afternoon, they have a great menu which is amazingly affordable and an amazing garden (which the kids love!) butterflies painted on the walls, different coloured chairs. So. Amazing food and cocktails, exquisite and interesting deco, the friendliest of bar staff and a relaxing atmosphere. To conclude. The management have done an amazing job in changing the place, I will definitely go back!
So, this is a pub that in the past myself and my friends have avoided. 1) Its rough and 2) its rough - sorry did I repeat myself-i wanted to reinforce the roughness. The thing is Battersea could be a fab place but instead its a sort of wasteland plopped in-between the randy young drinking destination that is Clapham and the posh and monied destination that is Chelsea. If you live in Chelsea you would never dare venture over the bridge and if you live in Clapham you'll get distracted by the zillion other bars en-route. There's no tube and a plethora of concrete council buildings kicking about. Add in a few kebab and Chicken Houses and you get the picture. However my friend and I were feeling brave and after finding Lost Angel shut as always - that place never seems to be open these days! Halo long gone and now a dusty carcass the Secret Garden seemed a better bet than the chilling wind and frozen outdoors. The decor is cute-the skanky carpets have gone - well from the front bit and been replaced with shiny, jaunty floors, a mish mash of cool and retro furniture and some shiny pretty lights. The back of the pub could do with a bit more of a re-vamp but I suppose they need to ease the regulars in lightly. There was no one there when we visited and they couldn't make us cocktails despite having them on the menu but the food looked lovely - we didn't actually have any-but we will and it was super value compared to most places! The bar staff despite being very green were also really friendly and welcoming which is a nice change from the usual King's Road pub-sorry but it is true! The thing is, I really, really hope Secret Garden survives and becomes a success-battersea is crying out for some variety-not all of us want to eat at the Chicken/kebab/fried whatever every day! I hope they do get some live music and good nights going on because I don't think I can handle another night in Chelsea with the Octavias and Ruperts of this world.
