The Sekforde Arms is how a traditional pub should be, with top pub grub, a range of ales and lots of chat from the locals. Don’t let this deter though, because newbies are welcome too.

The Venue
Hidden down a residential street off trendy Clerkenwell Green, the Sekforde Arms can only be described as slightly quirky. Open the creaky door and a surprise awaits. Downstairs, there’s an old fashioned fireplace, traditional pub decor, and photos of the Queen and Prince Charlie pulling pints at the very same pub in the eighties. Upstairs, there’s a function room brimming with rickety chairs, which probably haven’t been dusted for a year or two.

The Atmosphere
The atmosphere at the time-warped Sekforde Arms is relaxing. Although it’s not the sort of place you could stay in for the whole day and night, you could easily stay for more than one whilst listening to a cobbled selection of music. The locals keep themselves to themselves, but never bat an eyelid when a first timer pops their head in.

The Food
Food is top quality pub grub with two specials a day. Many of these will remind you of school dinners on a more quality scale. Prices are decent for both the food and drink with huge portions to boot.

The Drink
With at least three different ales on sale at a time, plus traditional lagers perfectly served, the drink at the Sekforde Arms cannot be faulted. With a wine list on tables, you’re led to believe there’s an extensive selection, although whether they’re all available is another matter.

The Last Word
If you’re looking for a traditional pub with real ale and pub grub, don’t look any further than the Sekforde Arms. Hidden down a back street in trendy Clerkenwell, you couldn’t find yourself further from the pretentious City workers.
