A major refurbishment in a traditional London pub is rarely welcomed by the regulars but the SIr Robert Peel has certainly changed for the better.

The pub, in Queens Crescent, was badly in need of attention and the new look makes the pub much more female-friendly. The old pool table is still there and while the juke box may be new, the same can't be said of the music.

It is nice to see a landlord who makes major changes with the intention of keeping his regulars rather than going more upmarket. The beer prices haven't changed and the Sir Robert Peel remains my favourite London watering hole.

The Sir Robert Peel has recently been renovated and thrown off the image of an old geezers pub. The new decor is airy, functional and much more female-friendly.

Sir Robert Peel is still very much at the heart of the community around Queens Crescent and the pool table remains.

Sir Robert Peel in Kentish Town is a real old school boozer the same people have been drinking here forever. The bar man has just left after 32 years if that's anything to go by.
Sir Robert Peel has got a lot of character, mostly in the people lurking around the bar. Not a bad place if you want to get messy.
