The ViewLondon Review

You’ll find this award-winning Match Bar family member in a class of its own, snuggled on the corner of Tabernacle and Worship Street in the heart of EC2, its been steadily getting more popular year after year since it opened in 2000.

The Venue
Sosho is located slightly off the beaten track but is easy enough to find and only minutes from Old Street or Moorgate stations. It’s also very easy to park in this area if you don’t fancy indulging in their amazing cocktail list. As you enter this sophisticated bar, a large expanse of bare brick walls, leather furniture and ever-changing contemporary art installations open out in front of you. This is the sort of bar that you come to for a quiet, civilised evening and end up leaving at 3am as the bar magically turns into a top quality club with renowned DJs taking you through the night.

The Atmosphere
Sosho has a wonderfully chilled out atmosphere when it’s quieter mid-week, although this place is rarely subdued, always has a good atmosphere and has a really buzzing vibe at the weekend - probably because of the great music policy.

The Music
This wonderfully eclectic venue doesn’t just stick a CD on but has well known DJ talent such as Max Latino, Georgia Girl and Kev Beadle from Wednesdays. They play mostly house but look out for other special nights too, all running until late so you really can dance ‘till you drop with one of the friendliest, trendiest crowds in London!

The Drink
The cocktails are what the Match Bar chain is renowned for and Sosho certainly doesn’t let the side down. The huge menu devised by Dale DeGroff holds the good old favourites like the Cosmopolitan as well as some you would never have heard of but will definitely be intrigued by, such as the Sosho cooler. Most of the cocktails have been expertly, lovingly created by their own bartenders. The vodka espresso also comes highly recommended, especially if you want to keep dancing ‘till dawn!

The Last Word
In short, Sosho has it all - drinking, dancing, great atmosphere, happy friendly staff and reasonable prices, so there’s no excuse not to give it a try if you’re looking for a new bar to frequent.
