I like that big guy on the bar... Think his name starts with D....?
He can shake my insides any day!
Having had a good night at this club before, I decided to take friends again for their birthday. Myself and my friend (two females) were slightly later arriving so we called our friends to come out to let them know we would have to join the MASSIVE queue. The door staff were extremely aggressive to my friend and I and told us we could not stand on the pavement on the opposite side of the street to the club!!!! We tried to explain (and we were both sober) that we were just waiting for our friends to which we got serious verbal abuse for one door man who said we wouldn't be allowed in. Talk about a doorman on a power trip. Avoid this club unless you enjoy dealing with rude, aggressive doormen on a power trip!!!!
This is one of my worst nights in east London, and I live in E1! Stay away from the pretentious staff and door people. If this opened anywhere cool (NYC) it would be deserted within the month, only Londoners can tolerated being considered an annoyance and spending a lot of money for it too! We had a private party, paid a lot of money for the hire and the manager L. mentioned a door policy on the night so half my guests were left outside arguing! Although it could just be a bad night for this manager, everyone complained about her attitude and raised voice. I think SoSho is already too full of itself to offer real value for money and a good time. Better palces around the corner!!
You don't have to drink the champagne to have a good time at Sosho. Retox night is a good one, and Arthur Baker was great this last weekend. Apparently he may be doing a regular monthly monthly spot which would be great for Sosho.
Wow, ain't it grand that if you want to slag off a bar you get to stay anonymous? Jeez, if those crappy reviews for Sosho are genuine then someone needs to take a hair out of their proverbial. Sosho has been awesome nearly everytime I went. Yes it gets crowded but that's because it can usually deliver the goods, has a good reputation and so, it gets busy. Retox is the nuts.
Sosho is best avoided - the beer and wine selection is terrible, the staff can be rude, the noise level is unbearable, the air is stale and the seating is uncomfortable.
When it's heaving (usually with trendy types, but I've no idea what they're doing in EC2) it's impossible to get across the floor to the bar, let alone get served. The layout at Sosho really isn't to be praised at all.
Sosho should be avoided. Yes, it has a largely trendy crowd...but they're mostly young Europeans on student visas. Don't go to Sosho.
You can't deny that Sosho is a bar with a suitably stylish decor, but for me that was as far as the satisfaction went. The layout isn't brilliant, especially with the dancefloor right next to the bar, though thankfully nobody was dancing. God forbid i spill my over-priced cocktail. If you opted for a beer, the choice was almost nil, and although award-winning, they weren't particularly nice (a cunning ploy peprhaps). The house white was awful too.
The non-descript music would've been perfect at a much lower volume, but the fact that I had to shout to everyone rather spoiled the night. Add to this the fact that the air-conditioning appeared to be under-employed, and I speak for most of my group when I say htat Sosho is one place to avoid.
