The ViewLondon Review

Sound is London’s high class club for low class revellers. Located at the heart of Leicester Square, it offers a hopeful crowd of wannabes, drinks, dancing, and amazing views of the West End.

The Venue
Sound is huge - really huge. It has five distinctive areas, all with their own unique design and personality, and is set over three floors. Whilst you don’t have to worry about fighting for dance space, you may need to fight your way through the crowds of that clutter its entrance. Once that is out of the way, you can start enjoying the TV adorned walls, neon decked seating sections and a bar or, as the club likes to call it, The Ivory Room – overlooking Leicester Square.

The lower level of the club has a large dancefloor, a cosy VIP section and, despite its large capacity, only one bar. The second level also has its own bar, a red and white themed lounge (where you can rest those tired feet) and a large balcony overlooking the dancefloor. The toilets are located on the upper level so hold back on the drinks otherwise you’ll tire yourself out.

The Atmosphere
Sound boasts a diverse and attractive crowd of inner London revellers looking for a wild night out. The girls are dressed to impress and boys are after one thing. Youths tend to hang around at its entrance, but this is kept outside.

The Music
The club offers a winning line up of RnB and house floor fillers, which is guaranteed to fuel you with a major dancefloor workout. The Ivory Room hosts a different line up to its lower level counterpart, mostly classic and low-tempo beats, to create a relaxed and setting atmosphere.

The Drink
Drink prices at Sound are what you’d expect from your typical London nightclub. A double vodka and mixer will set you back around 7 quid and you’re looking at around £5 for a single. The clubs mixologists can shake or stir a perfect set of winning, well-textured and colourful cocktails that will tickle and tease your taste buds. Just make sure you limit the amount you spend as prices vary from £8-15 pounds per cocktail (tap water anyone?).

The Last Word
Sound boasts an amazing interior and breath-taking views of the London skyline but if you’re not a big spender then it’s worth scouting for a cheaper alternative.
