Old man pub from outside. Interior looks pretty impressive. The pub backs on to Brixton prison so the "beer garden" is a concreted patio with garden furniture that fronts on to a main road. Lots of traffic, bus fumes, and loud rude boys.

Over priced warm beer, mediocre cocktails and bring cash as they charge you to use your card?! Cold food arrives looking limp, condiments look like they've been refilled from peoples remnants, crumbs and salad in mayo and ketchup yuk! Sour faced staff look like they'd spit in your food if you complain.

Atmosphere is rubbish, usually pretty empty and only frequented by locals and clique staff.

A recent visit to the South Side bar (previously George IV) really exceeded my expectations.



The new bar couldn't look more different. Instead of the gloomy George IV cavern there is a bright space with trendy sofas, picnic tables and umbrellas outside, a dance
floor at the back plus a great selection of drinks including jugs of Pimms. Only two cubicles for ladies though.



It's pretty busy but with a chilled and friendly atmosphere and seems to attract plenty of locals. The music is mainstream dance - e.g. r and b/hip hop/house. There are some interesting nights lined up over the
coming weeks too.



Food is available at the bar or the outside barbeque. Portions are large and reasonably priced.



All this plus a view of Tile Magic! A pleasant
place to spend a sunny afternoon.
