This is my local and have been going for 15 years, lured by the old building the absence of music and lovely food. Recently however the place has definitely taken a turn for the worse. The prices are starting to be silly, the choice of pints has become quite limited and the queues on a sunny afternoon are immense. In fact one unseasonably sunny weekend a few months ago they had completely run out of food which might be an issue to some people who travel far to get here. We were still rather loyal to our local after all that though. What broke the camel's back was an issue about a week ago. It was a Monday night and there were about 8 of us upstairs celebrating my partners birthday. After we finished our meal at about 10pm we were told that we cannot be served any more as we have had too much to drink. I would like to point out that we are all middle aged had a couple of glasses each a big meal and there was no one else upstairs that Monday night, the place was empty. Not even a voice was raised to be honest. It was clear that the stuff just wanted us to piss off early so they can go home. This was slightly insulting as some of our friends had traveled from various parts of London to come to our local and we have been going there twice a month for years not to mention how much we spent there that night. We all thought if they wanted us to leave they could say when we got there or even at the time that they wish to close early. Some of our friends only got there just in time for dinner so had only had 1 glass of wine and they were told they cannot be served any more too. I think we will have to find a new local. Shouldn't be too hard around here...

I used to go this pub quite a lot, but since they changed the menu, its gone down hill and fast. Water soup on a cold night was awful, especially when it comes in half full bowl along with a small piece of bread (£6.00). Had it before and it used be hearty and filling, not any more.... :-(

My husband ordered his usual fish and chips and was disappointed by the plate served, chips portions halved along with the fish and yet the same price charged. We complained and they offered a feedback scheme to let the owners know were not happy and wont be coming back for dinner. Drinks at push..

Sad to see these drastic changes in what we would considered our favourite pub where food was value for money. The staff looked fed up of hearing the same complaint and I actually bad complaining, as it not her fault.

Hopefully they will listen to the feedback.

Very nice pub... only criticisms are:

1) Sometimes there are loud youths playing music outside / generally being antisocial. They need to employ a bouncer to get rid of these people as it sours the atmosphere.

2) Annoying outdoor heaters attract insects meaning you get covered in bites.

Not impressed. Went to the Spaniards for Sunday lunch on 1st June '08. We got the wrong meals, and the meat we did get was stringy and fatty. Would go there again but just to drink.

Hard to imagine a pub with this sort of country atmosphere in the heart of London.

Shame about this place's location, otherwise I'd be a more frequent visitor. Situated near Hampstead Heath, Spaniard's Inn is a great place to stop over for a mid-walk drink. It has a nice rustic feel inside which gives it a good winter pub vibe. Its pretty beer garden is huge - reminisent of somewhere where a mafia wedding might take place. The selection of beers is quite good too. The only downside I can think of is that the Spaniard's Inn car park can get a bit Wild West as everyone tries to jostle for a space.

Some months ago, my choir from Austria and I came to Spaniard's Inn for a musical session. It was just excellent. Food and mood and of course drinking. Thank you so much all in Spaniard's Inn for the fantastic time we had there.
