My overall experience of this place is awful! We recently visited for a friends birthday travelling down we stayed in a hotel about a 15min drive away. We decided to book a table and first eat in the restaurant where we were rushed through our whole meal and even told that we needed to pay and leave straight after eating dessert as they needed the table. We then went into the club. Around 12ish we realised that it was snowing so we phoned our taxi firm to ask to be picked up earlier to take us back to our hotel. Panic then started as people were realising that all taxis were stopping and not picking people up. At 2.00 when the club was closing our taxi had still not been able to get to us along with many others but we were then told to all leave the club. Bouncers were actually picking people up and physically chucking them out. I spoke to the manager and asked him how he can be chucking people out into 10-12inches of snow when they had no way of getting home? I was promptly told I knew the snow was coming and should of not come to the club! After saying to him that I think it was only fair that they should of made a announcement when the weather started getting bad we were then chucked out! We were forced to shelter under a shop door for 1hr until our taxi managed to get to us. Overall the whole experience of this place was disgusting I will never re-visit or recommend to anyone!

Reading other reviews of Sugar Hut, can't see what the fuss about the door staff is - seemed perfectly polite and friendly to me. Living just round the corner from Sugar Hut, seemed a good place to try on a Fridays night. Cocktails weren't great - overpriced for the quality of the musicology. I don't generally mind paying a high price for a decent cocktail, but these weren't up to the mar - compared to a lot of central London clubs such as Funky Buddha, Mahiki etc, these were incredibly substandard. Crowd was largely full of pervy men, with pretty crap music. Even as a (proud) Fulham resident, you'd be better off getting a taxi slightly further into Central London for better music (say for example Fabric) or a better atmosphere. If you're going to pay over the odds for drinks, you can get better made ones at most WC London venues...

I have been to Sugar Hut few times and had the best experience. There is no need to say how good is food; interior is amazing and dark lighting helps to create a right atmosphere when having a drink in the bar.
I would strongly recommend it!!

I have never experienced such awful customer service in my life! I had booked a table for 12 for my birthday over a month in advance, revieved my booking confirmation and was then told 3 days prior that they had double booked. I could have a table at 10:30pm but was told that if I wanted to cancel that was fine as they had plenty of other people wanting to eat there! When asking if there was anything else they could do, the manager got so irrate with me that he hung up! Couldn't believe it! Needless to say neither myself nor anyone I know will be going there ever again!

I have been at Sugar Hut few times before, I have to say, the music the DJ plays is just wrong ,

we love house and funky house music but he is just an arrogant bad DJ SO CLASSIC, and also he plays the same music every weekend,

I think if you buy a CD from him and put it on on the night would be the same.. I requested few nice house songs, and he was very rude to me and say that he doesn't do requests in a very rude manner.

also the musicians are just boring and have no passion or energy they are just boring boring boring...

We were just very disappointed for the music ( it used to be fantastic in the past though with great drinks and great staff) the drinks and specially the cocktails were very badly mixed.

I don't know what happened to the place but its a completely disaster. Nothing like it used to be before. BAD MUSIC RUDE STAFF NO ASTMOSPHERE DUDGY DJ OVERPRICED BAD DRINKS.... ETC ETC ETC...don't waste your time or money!!!!

better go to Havana if you are in fulham... AVOID AVOID AVOID SUGAR HUT!! MANAGEMENT ARE DISGUSTING AND RUDE TOO

What a dreadful place, over rated, over priced a real disappointment.

Similar to sister venue in Brentwood, big difference being that Brentwoood actually believes that its something special, something that it is definitely not.

Don't waste your time, energy or money.

At first impression the place seemed misplaced - air conditioning, decent music, good decor - was this Fulham, or Mayfair?

The couches were a surprise - when I think of a lounge bar, comfort usually takes first place in my mind.

The old sweaty woolen divans were not the best things I had sat on, especially in 35C weather.

The evening proceeded downhill from that. The cocktails were small, poorly made - and tasted exclusively of tap-water-ice and no substance.

Fine. Oftentimes cocktails are not done properly here - it is Fulham after all.

However the service was abhorrent. Besides the fact that the feisty waitress spoke no English, she had an attitude as if she was the table waitress at Movida - looking you up and down every time she came over to bring another glass of slimy-water-cocktails.

After we discovered an additional £50 to our bill - the manager came along. His attitude, demeanour and insults towards our party were one step too far.

This place is a dump. If you want a lounge bar, take an extra £5 of taxi to Chelsea / Knighstbridge were you belong and leave this woolen-infested place for someone else to enjoy.

Sugar Hut is a prime example of a restaurant/bar with a shiney surface but lacking any substance underneath.

As other reviews say, they've put a lot into the image of the place such as the decor but the quality of service and drinks served were terrible.

My friend booked a table just for drinks and initially the waitress was fairly attentive, however we began to get a bad feeling when my cocktail turned up and constisted of 95 percent crushed ice and tasted just of that.

Then my friend asked for a Slippery Nipple shot. The bar staff didn't know how to make it and when it arrived it was made wrong.

My friend then asked them to take it back as it was wrong. The attidude of the waitresses was one of contempt. When we asked for the bill.

They just verbally told us the total. When we asked for an itemised bill they reacted like this was a ridiculous request and it caused all sorts of problems.

When we finally got the itemised bill they had overcharged us by £50. They not only added the shots we had sent back but they added another imaginary round of drinks.

The manager had a dreadfully bad attitude about it and after a lot of arguing everntually took the £50 off.

My recommendation is DO NOT waste your time and money on this arrogant, shallow, glitzy but sub-standard place.

Everything we thought, it would be and more!

After a couple of bad restaurant experiences recently, we were looking forward to this with some trepidation, but we were not to be disappointed.

The service was impeccable (especially Maggie), just the right level of helpfulness. They knew when they were needed and when to stand back.

The waitress which we had for the meal was friendly and gave excellent description of the food.

The food was out of this world, from the amuse Sugar Hut platter to the fizzing kiwi cocktail and passionfruit tartelette.

The three courses were a delight to eat, with each mouthful being something to savour.

We were originally going to go on the set menu but we were swayed (by ourselves!) to go on the main a la carte menu.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant, for a special occasion if you need the excuse.

It will make every other restaurant pale in comparison!

I was there with a friend on Monday 22/12/08. The restaurant was fairly busy. We met up with two other friends and we loved the food. It was very authentic Thai and nicely presented. The decor was different. The light was a bit dim when we first walked in but after a while we got used to it. We were very happy with the service too.

So in conclusion I would definitely recommend it to others and would go back again for a meal.

A real disappointment. Great venue and good food but sadly the service is poor. The manager in particular is rude and I am not sure how he has managed to be employed in such a role. It is an expensive place to visit so do yourself a favour and go somewhere where you will be treated accordingly.

I went to sugarhut in early 2008. The decor and atmosphere were fantastic. The music was a live DJ who was a bit pretentios (reminded us of Howard Moon out of the Mighty Boosh!!) and the drinks, whilst expensive, were well mixed.
The food was OK - not the best, not the worst. It presented good value for money at £30-35 head for an extensive set menu. I did appreciate the way that they adjusted the set menu for a member of our party with dietry needs; they replaced some meat dishes with fish/seafood, so we got extra value in a way.
Later, there was standard dance music. The venue is a bit too small for this, in my opinion, as dancing/drinking/eating were all crammed together and I saw a couple of spillages of drinks. But overall, a nice venue, and you don't get nonsense from passing chavvy drinkers because of the 'disguised' door.

The decor at the Sugar Hut was dark and opulent with candles everywhere which seemed to set the scene for romance and intimacy but the noise level simply did not reflect that. I could hardly hear my date and the darkness made it difficult to read the menu! The service was rather slow but the staff were polite.

The food when it did arrive was beautifully presented and tasted authentic. The dishes were a little pricey - paying £5.50 for a scoop of ice cream was a bit much. Overall Sugar Hut was a nice place with good food in an unusual setting. I’m glad I went just to check it out but it’s not special enough to give me the urge to go back any time soon.

Sugar Hut was very nice looking and I thought it should provide a good meal. The food was of poor quality and I know about food. The special fried rice was soaked in cooking oil, the sea food soup was mostly mushrooms and looked and smelt horrible. The whole set meal tasted as if the chef couldn't be bothered and just chucked in the ingredients as per routine.

If Sugar Hut took the time to make the food better and spent less time on the extravagant venue decor this place could be brilliant. I'm only bitter because the quality of the food did not at all match the price and it ruined our evening.

I cannot recommend Sugar Hut. I reserved a table to celebrate my 30th. On the night, we were told that our table would be ready in 15 minutes. After an hour and a half of waiting we were told they had double booked and we would not be getting any food and it was too late to go elsewhere.

The Sugar Hut management were rude and unapologetic. On the night, they offered me a complementary meal for four but when I came to take them up on this offer, they reneged on the promise. This places gets a fat zero.

I was a little apprehensive after reading the Sugar Hut reviews but thought I should give it a go anyway and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were attentive and courteous and the cocktails are to die for.

I've never been to Thailand so haven't tasted real Thai food therefore I'm probably not the best judge but I found the food at Sugar Hut was great.

Overall, it's a beautiful restaurant with good food, great drinks and I'll be going back and recommending it to friends.

While Sugar Hut does indeed have a fantastic interior, I am afraid to say that it was a disappointment. If you are planning on going out with a large group of people I would not recommend this restaurant.

We arrived to find out that our group had to guzzle down the food and vacate our table by 9.30 for their next customers. Fair enough if they had told us in advance, but they didn't. To make matters worse, the staff were very rude and didn't make us feel as though service was in any way their priority. They also tried to encourage us to eat the most expensive set menu and were annoyed when we asked if more menus could be distributed.

Although it was stressed that we would get all dishes on the set menu, they failed to tell us that this would be shared between four people. This we found out on arrival. The manager made attempts to appease the situation, but overall the experience, which should have been a joyous celebration at at Sugar Hut, turned out to be an unpleasant fuss.

Sugar Hut has a fantastic atmosphere! Live music on Sundays really lifts you at the end of a heavy weekend and the cocktails are well worth it. For those of you who don't drink alcohol they also serve exotic juice concoctions which went down a storm with the friends I brought. To complete the evening we ordered a shisha pipe for the table. We will definitely be going back to Sugar Hut to try out the restaurant!

I went to the Sugar Hut last weekend with a few friends and had a fantastic time. We arrived earlier than our reservation so were given an area in the lounge to wait for the rest of our party to arrive. The cocktails are amazing - keep in mind that all spirits are doubles. I don't know much about Thai food so the waiter was extremely helpful not to mention patient but it was worth the wait as the food was great. All in all, Sugar Hut is not cheap but this is evident as soon as you walk in. All of us had a great time and have booked again for my birthday next month.

I read the previous review of Sugar Hut and should have taken heed. It was horrible! What a waste of money. The doorman was rude and blocked my entry in. The drinks were ok but very pricey. The music was good but that's about it. The food tasted like a ready meal made from a supermarket. The bottle of water was £5 and the rice was about £4 per person. For steamed rice? What a laugh! I never, ever, write reviews, but this time I thought it was my moral obligation!

I just felt that I had to write in to counteract the other review! I have been to Sugar Hut three times and had a perfectly good time on all occasions. The food is not out of this world, but is reasonably tasty Thai. The cocktails are admittedly expensive but much nicer and imaginative than the average, I've always found the service to be good, and the Far eastern styli hookah pipe/cocktail quaffing seating area at the front is lovely for pre/post dinner relaxation. Add to that the big wooden door where you have to ring the bell to get in and all in all it’s an enjoyable evening. But maybe I'm just easily pleased...?

I went to Sugar Hut for dinner after recommendations from friends and it was just AWFUL. One starter undercooked, the other overcooked and tough, I sent it back to the kitchen and the replacement was similarly bad. My husband's duck main course was also tough and leathery indeed the only competently cooked dish was my cod, which was admittedly very good. When we tried to complain about my husband's main course, the waiting staff just smiled and walked away. I've eaten in much better and cheaper restaurants and had 1000x better service than here - it is just not worth it.
For good Thai, you're better off at Busaba Eathai or Cats Cafe Des Artistes where the food is excellent and so is the service.

I went to Sugar Hut on a cold Saturday night with my boyfriend and we had a fabulous time. Yes, it isn't cheap but it isn't extortionate. The decor is slightly incongruous with the Thai food but it still looks fabulous and the cocktails (Mojitos in particular) were divine and around average price for a restaurant. The food we had at Sugar Hut was delicious and the service was great - I can't wait to go again!

Sugar Hut is awful! Overpriced and pompous! We bought a round of 3 drinks, came to about £25 quid, I gave them 2 twenty quid notes and they kept the change! They don't give change here! I had to ask about four times for my £15 change (service charge already paid!). OUTRAGEOUS! Don't go!

I live in Fulham and have been to the Sugar Hut a fair few times - both with mates and partner and have had a great night on those occasions.

The food is always great and the service is good - I never left this place feeling I was disappointed with the food. Authentic Thai - have to try the Pad Thai, not just because it's the national dish but because it is just fantastic - a bit on the heavy side with the volume but if you're a hungry Thai cusine lover, you won't regret it.

When we went as a group, we ordered the set menu which is for two and is enough to fill you up but the dessert is also good - the mango dish is excellent.

As for the bar, the drinks are a bit on the expensive side with the cocktails at 7.50 each but they're all well worth it and well made.

You can book or if you're lucky, can get a bed sofa to lie on for the night so get there quick if you want one!

I was there with a partner and after dinner, they asked if we wanted to stay for a drink and 10 mins later we got a bed sofa, which was nice.

Stayed there till late and had a great night.

I think they must have a late license but dont get there too late as they turn people away (I think) when they get full.

All in all, great place for food and drinks and the atmosphere is authentic. The toilets are really nice too!
