Ignore what the others are saying - this is one of the best pubs in the area!

It is THE BEST food out of every pub in Barnes/Mortlake area - and i have lived here my whole life and spent many a lunch/dinner in the other local pubs.

On top of that, the landlady is great and works so hard to keep the machine working. They have any drink you could possibly think of and a HUGE selection of Beers, Wines, spirits, ciders...etc etc

They also have THE BEST bar snacks i have ever experienced:Wasabi peas, mexican seeds, honey roasted everythings, the list goes on forever.

Sincerely,Long time Barnes high street resident and personality.

Currently the outside seating is possibly the only thing going for this pub, although be aware that is limited to the front of the pub, and does fill up very quickly at the weekend with drinkers.

Note I said drinkers, locals are savvy to the food, unfortunately visitors are not!

Sunday Roasts are hit and miss. Today my other half and I were tempted by the sun to have alfresco lunch at the Sun, only to be quickly reminded just why we don't ever eat there.

Burger and sandwich was all that was requested, finally after nearly an hours wait, first burger turned up chard and beaten to death, sandwich was stone cold and minus one ingredient out of two.

We were told replacement burger would be with us in 6 mins, it took another 20mins and arrived totally inedible again, so we both left hungry.

Stopped at the White Heart on the way home, and had a drink looking over the river, wishing why we hadn't gone there first!

I totally agree. A pub used to be a place for adults only, now, especially the Sun is like a creche and meeting place for these so called "Yummy Mummies" with there super duper push chairs that are the size of a car!!

I like the Sun but gone are the days when you could go there for a quiet drink.

A great place to drink all year round. Inside is modern and cosy (although almost totally without any natural daylight), outside is great on a nice day/night, especially if you can grab a table out the front overlooking the pond and green.

The selection of beers is good. Bar staff hit and miss- like any pub I suppose. Although you can always get a drink quite quickly- there are 2 bars.

Food is not good. Sirloin steak sandwich was so chewy I couldn't cut through it with a knife. Undoubtedly the worst steak sandwich I have ever had, I guess it was Zebru.

This is not a GREAT pub but a good one and worth a visit. Almost nicer when half empty on a week night.

The Sun is a lovely, authentic feeling old pub. The beer and food is great (non-smoking restaurant) and the setting is fantastic. The Sun is across the road from Barnes Pond and has loads of seating out the front. It is a very inviting pub with a warm and cozy atmosphere.
