I booked at booth for Sat night for my birthday, I was told I would have the booth at 10pm in the rnb room and my card details were taken. Then I received an email with the booking terms and conditions. Surely these should be these should be explained to the customer before they give money and not after. These stated that my booth could be moved if needed. Had I been told this before I gave my card details I would not have done so. I asked for a refund and was told that booth bookings are non refundable. All I was told was that I could go to the rnb room until 10 and then move to my booth, not very helpful! I am appauled that Sway seems to just make money on misleading their customers. The very least Sway staff could have done was to read me the terms and conditions before I handed over money. Especially when I queried the location of the booth on the phone and clearly stated I only wanted it in the rnb part of the bar. No refund was offered as a goodwill gesture at all. I can assure you that I will never visit again.
Svc awful. I ordered 2 booths, got 1. Girl coordinating my event didn't turn up on the evening. Staff had no clue about drinks prices / how to use till or even open bottle of wine!! Jugs of water were warm. When we asked for them to be replaced we were told to go and reorder. Food arrived early so was cold b4 guests arrived. Staff were totally incompetent for the most part.
The only helpful person was what looked like one of the security guys who kindly replaced our table with a slightly less wobbly one
Music was best part, good oldfashioned 80s 90s stuff
I was very disappointed with the door staff. They were extremely rude and unwelcoming. My birthday was ruined because we were not let into the club, even though our names were on the guestlist. I think something should be done about the door staff because you will lose many customers like this. I will not be coming back to Sway and I will not be recommending it to others.
Went to sway on 19th July for my friends 21's birthday!!!! when entering club no1 gets searched! I found this very strange also made me feel quite uncomfortable. The club in genenal is extremely small. I found the drinks are very expensive!!! 2redbulls and 1 single malibu and coke £14.70. Music is ok. started of in the soul/rnb room. (its about the size of my bedroom) felt very cramped!! no where to sit down as the seats they do have you have to reserve. All the music was repeated!!! Lots of hen parties / people dressed up. Felt like a cheesy school disco. Its not stictly over 21's. Pictures on internet look really nice. club is tacky floors are sticky and it smells damp. Must mention no attitude in club and everyone did seem really friendly even boucers and bar staff. very helpful. But overall a terrible night!!! very disappointed. :-(
Hi, can anyone tell me what music is played at Sway on Saturday nights? Do they play any R n' B?
My friends and I recently visited Sway for my 18th birthday. I was quite disappointed with the venue. The club is tiny, felt like I was at a school disco. I had reserved a booth; it was certaintly not cosy or private like I had expected, its literally a few stools in a corner of the dancefloor. Music was fantastic though, and we danced the night away. Drinks are reasonably priced, not excessive but far from cheap. Thankfully I arrived about 930 so got in for free, but my friends arrived around 950 and had to pay £10, despite the website claiming entry before 10 is free. Thanks to mulitple shots, I had a really fun night, but certainly will not be returning to Sway, there are FAR FAR better places in London.
Me and a group of friends went to SWAY for my hen on the 22nd March! None of us had been there before! We all had a really good time but it could have been a lot, lot better!
The music was really good and the people were really friendly except for a few girls who were there, who were giving us dirty looks all nyt! Get a life u losers! The bouncers were a bunch of tossers as well though! They let 15 gals in except for one! And she was over 18!
We reserved a booth but when we got in after half an hour of queuing up, the booth was taken! But we still got the bottle of champagne!
I wouldn’t go back to SWAY! It was a good nyt but there are much better bars and clubs in Central London 2go2! This bar is a perfect example of a student’s den!
So 4 all of you mature people out there go else where!!!!
Great venue, great drinks and fantastic choice of music..
however the queue get's busy really early on a saturday night so if you want to get in for free (before 10pm) aim to arrive around 9:15. The door and bar staff are bolshy and slow, having said that, a good night overall!
Five of us went to sway whilst in London on a Hen weekend. We went on a Thurday so it was really quiet but the place is great. The staff were really friendly & couldn't do enough for us. The food was fantastic & the cocktails had plenty of alcohol in them!!! We went down into the club after our meal, the music was fine, lots of dance & chart stuff but it wasn't busy so we didn't really feel like we could have a dance without looking stupid :-(
All in all the staff including security were really nice & we would definately go again.
I found this to be a great venue for corporate events and even threw myself a AWSOME VIP bash. WELL WORTH IT! Great night out!:-)
Horrible. Avoid at all costs. The staff are extremely rude!
Very boring bar. There were people there who wanted to dance but the DJ played such terrible music that they couldn't. Sway is a big West End operation with no character. Just dull.
The club looks nice, but in fact there are many cheap attendees. I was also surprised with the way the staff treat you. I don't recommend Sway Bar Kitchen and Club at all. There are many better places to go in London than Sway Bar.
After our meal we went down to the Sway club, and we didn't have to pay as there were no bouncers (there are on the door but not if you go through from the restaurant). The club was smart and nicely decorated, drinks were reasonable (£3.60 for single vodka and Coke) but as it was a Thursday it wasn't exactly buzzing. It was mainly an older crowd as well, though it was refreshingly not at all sleazy. I'd definitely go to Sway again but probably on a Friday or Saturday when it should be busier
I went to Sway for a friend's party. It has everything the late night drinker wants, it's not too loud or packed, (partly because the ceilings are so high you feel like you are in a void) the club area is separated from the bar area and the VIP rooms all have their own music.
I don't think the non clubber could ask for any more. Sway provides everything you need for a good night out with friends! If you are a hardcore clubber, then I would suggest another venue.
I was looking on the internet for somewhere to go for my 21st and Sway seemed to jump out. It was awesome, the decor was pretty opulent and the music rocked. Maybe my opinion isn't all that trustworthy - it was my 21st and I was pretty wasted - but I had the best night out ever and all my friends had a great time too.
Everyone was so friendly at Sway and the venue was spot on. Cocktails were divine and beautifully mixed. Can't quite remember how much they were but they can't have been too pricey as I had a drink in my hand all night long.
So, er, yeah, don't think there's much else for me to say other than it was wicked and we'll definitely be heading back there.
Having passed Sway Bar Kitchen and Club the previous week we were attracted to the venue as it is centrally located but off the main drag. We were hoping for a slightly more sophisticated young crowd without the usual West End bling. We arrived at Sway a little after midnight to be greeted by a surly doorman who informed us there was a £10.00 entrance fee. This was fine but his tone suggested that he thought we didn't have the £10.00 to spare!
Once past the doorman our initial impression of Sway was good. It is nice and clean with well maintained decor throughout. Passing though the club into the main room it became apparent that all was not well with Sway. Where were all the people? Whilst waiting at least 10 minutes to get served at the bar(laughable considering the number of people present) we had a good look around. Looking for a spot on the dance floor resulted in amazement and shock-horror! Strangely twisted, gyrating figures were in little crowds all over the place. Having finally been served we figured out what was causing otherwise normal people to dance in such a bizarre fashion - the music! It was totally unacceptable.
We tried to get into the groove (even risked the dance floor at one point) but there just wasn't one. The DJ forcefully mashed terrible tune with terrible tune with the end result being truly awful. As a result we decided it was time to leave Sway. Total duration of stay – about an hour.
On the way out we politely enquired as to the nature of the music. Apparently it's called funky house and they are experimenting with it. From years of hardcore clubbing experience this is not house, it is most definitly not funky and experimenting is not always a good idea. In summary, Sway's music, crowd and venue do not match. Maybe it was just a lame night, I really hope so for Sway's sake!
Sawy is a pretty cool, modern place, so unfortunately it can attract a bit of a pretentious crowd. The food is contemporary British - everything I've had in there is really tasty, especially the sticky toffee pudding!
Not a bad place. If you're in the area you might want to give Sway a look.
Sway is a great venue for a private party with two private bars for about 60 people and 30 people respectively, plus access to the nightclub. I'm impressed by Sway's friendly staff and decent prices for house wine. I would have given it a five star rating if the canapes had been slightly better quality.
Sway bar is situated in a great part of town but that is the only thing going for the place. I was deeply unimpressed by the music, when requesting a song I was told by the DJ that he would only play songs that he liked, forget about the people that wanted to dance...this explains why there was so little people in the bar in the first place.
The first time I went to Sway, I thought the atmosphere was good, had a laugh with friends and the cost of drinks was not to expensive. Since then, the place has changed and I would never recommend anyone go there especially for their birthday!!
When you're in London, if you're young, and you want to go to a bar where everyone else seems to be around the age of your mother or father, Sway is the place to go.
The coolest/creepiest part of the experience is that all of these people will want to dance with you. That being said, the atmosphere of Sway is exceptionally friendly, and the dance floor, albeit eerily reminiscient of a teenage school party, is a good place to mingle with your fellow Sway-goers.
The staff, in particular, are very nice, and the decor is a little Alice-in-wonderland - but when you are busy having a blast and shaking it with Dad on the dance floor, who really notices decor anyway?
Sway on Great Queen Street is a funky bar / club with a friendly atmosphere and a chilled out vibe.
The staff were all very friendly and the comfy sofas in the bar area were definitely a plus point and a nice place to relax and have a few drinks
with friends and actually hear what they are saying.
I would definitely go
back again.
