It recently closed for a refurbishment, but now the freshly painted T Bar is back open and buzzing again. The queues down the road on Saturday nights are a clear sign that it has established itself as one of the top venues in Shoreditch for drinking and dancing into the very small hours.
Why you should go:
T Bar is fast becoming an epicentre of London nightlife, thanks to being very serious indeed about music. It regularly hosts tried and trusted names like Andrew Weatherall as well as DJs like Dyed Soundorom who are just breaking through.
There’s a bountiful supply of music during the week, including Thursday night showcases from Leeds label 20:20 Vision and Nottingham’s Leftroom Records. Shake the week’s woes away to Friday’s Ditched Disco until 2am, let loose on Saturdays to the likes of Lets… or the melodic Bodyclap and make the most of every last drop of the weekend at Sunday’s experimentally electronic Dig Your Own Rave.
Who you’ll find there:
Don’t be put off by T Bar’s hip Shoreditch image – it’s not a poncey place and actually attracts a pretty relaxed and down to earth crowd. By day, the T Bar may be full of media types from all the trendy design and communications agencies that work in the Tea Building, but by night it’s taken over by night owls who swoop in from Shoreditch and all over the city to drink cocktails and soak up the East London vibe.
How to find it:
T Bar is on the ground floor of the Tea Building, the big converted tea warehouse on the corner of Shoreditch High Street and Bethnal Green Road – you can’t find many more hip locations in London. Devotees will argue that it’s worth every step of the walk from Old Street tube.
