Note From Taberners:in response to all reviews and following on from our last post. We use the View site to gain a direct insite into our level of service and specific issues raised by our customers. Thank you all. In response we are in a transition phase. Our kitchen is closed temporarily and is in the process of being relaunched with new menu's along with new staff to prepare and serve at the level you expect. We aim to relaunch our kitchen and menu within four weeks. Come and test us. If you are not completely satisfied with the cuisine, the service or the venue let a member of staff know and they will be willing to assist you themselves or escalate the issue to a senior employee for resolution. We are a privately owned and funded venue and as such we have the ability to be flexible. One of our aims is to enable local artists to show their work in the venue at no cost with the intention of gaining them publicity and possibly a sale where 100% of the proceeds go direct to them. Hence the variety of art on display, not all of which fits the decor. However the intention is to give you our customers a frequently changing exhibition to view during your visits. This flexibility also enables us to leverage the bar to aid sections of the community through charity events. An example of this is an event on the 29th January. Our second "Ladies Night" where we completely convert the venue, into a setting where Elite Strippers can perform at their best. The night will be split into two where a percentage of the revenue up until 10:30pm will go to Breast Cancer Care. The after-party then kicks off where we open the doors to the public allowing entry to men partying on through till 4am. 100% of that door money will go to the ACLT. We met with the ACLT last night at the bar and they are in urgent need of funding. For further info on changes planned email: info@tabernersloungebar.Com Regards, Taberners.

Had our work Christmas party there and was absolutely enjoyed by all 50 of us, no complaints. the food was amazing, fresh and very tasty meeting all and above our expectations. the service was friendly and attentive ensuring we had all we need and meet all our needs. the atmosphere is friendly and warm and we certainly were made to feel at home by all. some of us did have reservations given that this is a new place and no one had eaten or even drunk there before but it was without a doubt a truly wonderful experience and people have since got back for an evening drink or lunch etc.
I visited the Taberner's lounge bar last Saturday, had a great time talking to a beautiful lady named Karen part of the new management , she really made me feel so welcome I would visit the bar again just to see her beautiful smile.
Good luck with all the positive changes you are making.
I love this bar- great food, music & service! Will go back-at last a bar in Croydon where you can enjoy yourself!
i went to taberners on a weekend and had a great night, attentive barstaff made sure i was happy and the dj played good music, such a nice adult atmosphere compared to others clubs in croydon,no trouble either which seems hard to avoid around there.
Note from Taberners specifically to customers who are dissatisfied with the service provided. Firstly we apologise and would like to thank you for taking the time to tell us why our service has failed to meet your expectations. We at Taberners voluntarily made ourselves available via the View London site to continually gauge and react to customer feedback because if you are not happy with our service, why should you come back. We are taking notice and making major changes in terms of management, staff and training. We do value your custom, and we are working to address the issues raised as quickly as possible as we intend to be around for a long time helping to bring focus back to our St Georges walk, Croydon, which to be honest needs it. If you would like further information on our plans in this regard please feel free to email info@tabernersloungebar.Com. Seasonal Greetings, taberners Lounge Bar Management
When I came to Taberners I had a lovely lunch of belly of pork! it was lovely will be ordering that again when I come with my friends. I'm 18 and I brought my friends there for the drum and bass night which was on a Wednesday, Great D.J.
Good music and lovely atmosphere, Taberners Lounge in Croydon is well worth visiting. I've eaten there a few times and the food is great - it's not easy finding wholesome, tasty west indian food in Croydon, especially if you want to sit and enjoy it, not just take it away.
Taberners helps put Croydon back on the map with its soulful music and good ole vibe that I think's missing in a lot of bars these days. And there's none of that funny attitude either - staff and attentive and there's a good mix of people who just wanna enjoy themselves.
It's definitely worth visiting!
I have been to Taberners on lots of occasions and I have found the food different from the other places in Croydon. Reasonable priced. They do my favourite beer also. Will def return.
All I have to say is dont bother!
This place is ok on the surface but it has no depth to it.
negatives: Food, staff, loud music & no other punters!
Positives: I dont have to go back!
Maybe I was just unlucky but I really didnt enjoy my visit to this bar.
The food was tasteless and overdone and the service was very poor. Staff were disinterested and took ages to be served despite the fact that it was dead in there.
Its a real shame because this place could be so nice if it wasnt for such poor service.
Very Very Very poor.
Had to wait ages for somebody to actually notice that I was stood at the bar waiting to be served as the staff seemed to busy playing around on their laptop and chatting with friends. Finally got served only to be told they do not have beer! A bar with no Beer! kind of a joke if you ask me.
The food was really not good and also had to wait a really long time for that as well. The place was empty and I really understand why! Service is a joke and the food is not worth the time spent waiting or the money you pay for it! Considering this place was empty you would think you would get good service but you feel completely ignored and unwelcome.
This place will not stay open long.
its a real shame.
Been to Taberners Bar on a few occasions and found the atmosphere electric when there is a big night on.They play an eclectic blend of urban music from House to RnB. Something for everyone. The chef was sending out some amazing crab cakes which you will struggle to find any better in the city. Everytime I've come here I've been made to feel welcome by all the staff and it really feels like a professionally run bar with people who know what they are doing. Visited for a Lunch meeting and the laid back but professonal vibe makes it an easy place to come to and keep coming back to for food and drinks.
Overall cannot fault the place, it's made a big difference to what it was previously and I will definitely be going back for me. TRY THE CRAB CAKES!!
I have been to Taberners Lounge Bar on several occasions and I have found the staff very polite and helpful, the atmosphere is always warm and inviting.
Further more the food is great, I can not stress this enough. I’ve had several of their dishes and as a vegetarian I am extremely picky about my food. Some places can only do so much with a few potatoes and some carrots!! The meals I have had there have always been well presented and extremely flavoursome.
All veggies out there need to take note……there is a jewel in Croydon and it’s called Taberners Lounge Bar.
Well where do i start... I went to Taberner's the other week for my friends 21st birthday and it was brilliant.!
The service and staff were excellent they really made us feel welcome and like proper v.i.p's :) they even gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne.!!
To top it off the atmosphere there was amazing, everyone seemed to mingle and see the night through right till 4am..!!
My friend really enjoyed herself and I've already booked the venue for my 25th in January.
I'd definitely recommend the place as its been along time since I've been in a bar like this one, especially in Croydon's town centre.
Definitely the place to be x
We visited Taberners for a works party and had a great time. The music was excellent, the service friendly and the cocktails were fantastic!
I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a place to party that's outside of the usual tacky commercial haunts.
Went to Taberners for a work do and found the staff really helpful. We ordered a selection from the menu and it all tasted great and was well presented. Happy hour was great too!
Only criticism I would have is that the lighting was a bit bright but having been to many bars in Croydon with a large work party, we found that Taberners cater really well for a large crowd. We'll be going back!
Such high Quality food. Had the crab cakes which were devine. What a great price also. Defiantely returning yumm!
Food was amazing, had lunch there most dishes are about £3.00 and taste great. Compliments to the chef!
Came on the opening night too, wicked music and vibe, gonna go more often. Great to see another exciting independent in Croydon.
