You can tell the reviews below this one are old. Standards have clearly avalanched at this restaurant.

A group of seven of us went for Xmas lunch in December 2011, and we have all agreed it's by far the worst place we've ever eaten.

Where to begin? Perhaps the fact it took an hour and 15 minutes to be served. That wouldn't be so bad if the food hadn't been horrific - the turkey was brown and tough, the risotto inedible, and the duck pate was cold, congealed and accompanied by Branston pickle.

Three meals were sent back, only to be replaced by sausage and mash which scarily only took two and a half minutes to arrive, and went on to make two of our party sick.

Our table gave us a view into the 'kitchen', which was like staring into the bowels of hell. Food left uncollected to grow cold on the side, salad out of packets, and staff handling an assortment of foods without gloves on.

There was clearly nowhere near enough staff to cope with the size of the restaurant - and those that were there wore expressions of pain and confusion. We know how they felt.

Unsurprisingly we skipped the dessert - it's difficult to massacre a Christmas pudding but I can only imagine what the 'chef' would have done if let loose with brandy and a lighter. Instead we escaped into daylight, thankful we'd survived the experience, but £125 lighter of pocket as a result.

They at least had the decency not to charge us for the drinks as a way of apologising for the whole pitiful experience.

There are plenty of decent restaurants around Westminster, this place should be avoided at all costs.

Despite the relatively slow service and somewhat limited menu, The Tapster is a really good venue. The wine list is good and the food is very tasty - you can tell they put effort into it.

The atmosphere of this place is pretty good as it's got an authentic pub feel so avoids the lager lout kind of customers. So if you want a good glass of wine, some pretty good bar food and a nice setting, try the Tapster.

Tapster is a Westminster institution. I've been coming here for years, ever since I first moved to London. The setting and location of Tapster has always really appealed to me, but it's their staff and their attitudes that are the icing on the cake.
