What a lovely little pub. Comfy and cosy, friendly staff. Food good, but not brilliant. Will definitely visit again.

went here for lunch, the staff were very friendly and re previous review they must have new chef as food was delicious, we had sunday roast, and serve food upstairs which is nice and cosy.

Went here today for lunch and had such a terrible experience I had to write as soon as I could.

The food was awful and 6 out of 6 of us was dissapointed with the service and food. The staff was having a right grump and, like the previous reviewer, I can not explain what happened to those chips. The scampi was anaemic, the chicken burger was pale and horrible; the burger buns were burnt and when asked if we could change it got a huff from the waitress. And the cabbage type thing that came with the pies well my colleague described it as 'foot skin'

Don't go here to eat if you have tastebuds!

Would probably be a nice pub to have a cosy drink in in the winter though. Not sure I want to chance it.

I quite like it here, but why do they always employ slow, Australian bartenders? Ugh!

The Anchor Tap looks all right from the outside, but inside, it's a bit pokey, with numerous small rooms. Having said that, some of these rooms can be quite cosy and it would be a shame to knock it all together as is the trend when pubs get refurbished. The Anchor Tap does get more cheery in the summer when the beer garden is open.
