Absolutely awful

Staff with an attitude, serving the worst type of pub food, that looks and tastes like it has fallen out of a microwave, scorching hot, but no flavour.

Drinks overpriced, and not particularly good wine selection.

Complaints wise - don't bother, they offer you another version of the same meal, or say complain to Head Office.

If you're looking for a better experience, try the nearby THQ for wine and food, The Blue Lion or The Pakenham, they have a welcome that actually seems genuine.

Oh, and when I did complain to the Head Office, I received a fob off email - seems like the brewey aren't interested in customer service either!

Held a work function here, the food was overpriced lukewarm and not that great.

The bar staff are so busy trying to be cool, that they actually come across as rude.

The managers response to our complaint was that we could go elsewhere if we didn't like it - very disappointing, a function ruined, so we will. There are much better pubs in the area, until this one changes, I will be avoiding it.

Had a function in this pub. They run out of bottled beer.

the bar staff are very rude and the buffet was sooooo awful and to top it all the manager of the pub was not interested.

Much nicer pubs near by.

The Apple Tree has a chilled out atmosphere, fantastic food and the best looking bar staff in Clerkenwell!

The Apple Tree has changed. Outside has been repainted and new furniture and umbrellas make this a lovely part of the world to sit and drink.

The menu has moved a wee bit upmarket and is almost gastro in style i.e. Roast Sweet potato with roast veg, salsa and sweet chilli and the home made burgers are thick and juicy and to die for.

The music changes by the hour. One minute it is seriously cool bosa nova and as the night draws in there are anthems and indie and the place truly rocks. Be there it is one of the best pubs in Clerkenwell.
