We wandered along to The Bear for the fourth Sunday running,
only to find they were totally full. For God's sake it is August.
The good is so consistently good you know you will not be
disappointed although, there is a longer than usual wait. My husband has been salivating over the roast lamb we had last Sunday which he
claimed was the best he has ever had. We had amazing clams and smoked eel. We also had an sublime gooseberry champagne
jelly and mousse. If only we had booked. Sally

A friendly, pub with lovely food. We went on a Sunday a while ago and it was quite empty but staff were lovely and friendly and the food was delicious

I have one big problem with the Bear. It needs to be much nearer to my house.

This is a great pub serving a selection of real ales that you'd be hard pushed to find anywhere in London. All are well kept and the management are more than happy to let you have a taste of what is on before you order.

The food is alway consistent and the menu changes regularly using seasonal ingredients. The cooking is of a very high standard and I've never been disappointed with any of the meals I've had. The menu veers towards traditional British and French bistro food at very reasonable prices. Also, if you're looking for a great brunch at the weekend, look no further.

I really think this place deserves to work. It has been sensitively refurbished maintaining many of the original features with the original bar still in place. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid back and it feels like a proper welcoming local. No hint of superficial manufactured chain pub present here.

If you live in the area - go. There aren't many places to match it. If you don't live locally it's worth a trip. The staff are welcoming and make a proper effort - really refreshing in a city overrun with chains. Basically if you like a warm welcome, good food and beer in a relaxed and informal environment then it certainly won't disappoint.
