The ViewLondon Review
In the heart of the rich and beautiful Belgravia, The Beauchamp is a local pub with a bit of class.
The Venue
Beauchamp Place has some of London’s chicest eateries, which is no surprise given it’s just a two minute walk from Knightsbridge. The Beauchamp fits into this area with tables and chairs outside when its sunny to make it feel more Parisian, plus chic taupe and pale blue making the exterior appear more refreshing than your average pub.
Inside, the colourscheme is neutral and sophisticated with the large space used effectively by the placement of plenty of comfy black sofas for customers to lounge in. It’s not part of a chain and there’s no sign of archaic features to make it seem like most of the other pubs in London. Some will see the decor as bland, others sleek. The long bar proudly displays large bottles of Skyy vodka and Belvedere, almost as a reminder of where you are.
The Atmosphere
As it’s not in the midst of all the shopping people traffic, The Beauchamp is a quiet local for residents of the area wanting a drink in a calm atmosphere. The customers are a mix of stragglers from Harrods alongside regular locals. The pub isn’t particularly wild, so it tends to attract an older clientele during the day, but in the evenings it transitions into a friendly place for a pint for couples, colleagues and groups of friends. This isn’t the spot for a bawdy drinking session, instead come for a drink in a relaxing zone.
The Drink
The Beauchamp seems to be trying to be a high class lounge bar with a chalk board proudly advertising cocktails for £7 – the limited selection it makes it better than your average pub, but only just. On tap there’s Guinness, Fosters, Amstel, Scrumpy Jack, Greene King IPA and Kronenbourg for £3-£4 a pint, which keeps beer lovers happy. The wine list is minimal but decent with a range of prices and variety.
The Last Word
For a sleek version of your average local, The Beauchamp is the place to go.
