The ViewLondon Review
Cool and unpretentious, The Bedroom Bar is a hidden gem tucked away in the backstreets of Shoreditch. Full of East End originality and charm, this funky venue is decidedly upbeat, despite the quirky beds inside.
The Venue
On first impressions, The Bedroom Bar couldn’t look less inviting. However, make your way up the narrow staircase and you’ll find a surprisingly cool space populated by an eclectic mix of city types and Hoxton trendsetters. With a shabby-chic interior and an arrangement of unusual seating, including a couple of four poster beds, leather topped stools with metal rubbish bin bases and a funky boudoir style chill out room in the back, get there early enough and you’ll be spoilt for choice.
The Atmosphere
When this place gets packed at around 11pm, space can seem pretty limited in the main room. Despite this, it has a relatively laid back atmosphere thanks to it being spread over two separate and very differently styled rooms. With a bar in each room ran by friendly and knowledgeable staff, you won’t spend your night waiting for a drink either.
The Music
The Bedroom Bar really kicks off at the weekend, mainly due to the funky house beats of the DJ accompanied with live percussion. It tends to get pretty packed on the dancefloor so the back room can be a nice retreat. Plus, if you’re a regular, you might notice the DJ sets can get slightly repetitive, but that doesn’t seem to stop the growing number of people flocking to this East London favourite.
The Drink
Even though it’s in trendy Hoxton, the drinks are reasonably priced with a spirit and mixer costing a little over £3. And with a good selection of European draught beers, spirits and cocktails, you can be sure you’ll have a good night without spending a small fortune.
The Last Word
The Bedroom Bar might not be the biggest venue, but with a cool, no-attitude crowd, a quirky interior and a laid back atmosphere it’s definitely a worthwhile stop.
