Went here for the first time last night. I've never felt the need to write a review of a place but definitely felt the need here! Great music, great back room, loved it. The staff were really friendly (Sara on shots rocks!) and always kept it cool even when getting constant flack from punters queuing for drinks (yep you may know you're 5th in line, not so easy for a massively busy barman to know!).
Definitely will be back!

The door staff here are beyond rude & quite frankly ridiculous. Its worth avoiding Bedroom Bar for that reason alone, at least until they are replaced.
I hired an area at Bedroom Bar Saturday for my birthday. The bar was only 2/3 full yet two of my male friends were refused entry because it was "too cock heavy inside" - their words. I went down to enquire if there was a way to resolve the issue, at which point, what was shaping up to be an enjoyable night was essentially ruined by the unessessary, disgusting behaviour of the vile door man, who in front of a mass of witnesses stopped me mid sentence before I'd even asked the question & unleashed an amazingly aggressive flurry of abuse, telling me "he doesn't need to fcking explain himself to anyone, he doesn't have time to fck about, the world doesn’t fcking revolve around me just because im a little blonde & to fck off!." Charming. Considering this man can't string two coherent sentences together without a tirade of swear words & ranting at the top of his voice I hardly think he should be in a 'client facing position.' His behaviour was totally unecessary, purposely trying to intimidate & bully people for no reason.
Yet another case of a sad little man on a power trip, thinking he has the right to speak to people as he pleases because he guards a doorway for a living. Someone should get him a clip board and a headset - he'd be in his ellement! It really was quite pathetic ultimately resulted in me taking my entire party of 30 people to a much better bar round the corner.
It's a shame as on most other accounts it's actually a good little venue. The bar staff are friendly, the drinks are reasonable and the music's great. It's just unfortunate that management have put such a moron on the front door, in such a vital role as the first point of contact for paying customers. Especially in an East London bar where the pretentious attitudes of the west end aren't supposed to be found.
Very cool bar, the music is fantastic and the staff a cool. There was a short line up to get in but that was the only downside, once in we had an brilliant time.
The bouncers were friendly, they came and talked to us when one of our mates got a bit rowdy but they were cool about it and let us handle it. They were just letting their presence be known.
The music is just great, just so so great. The place is alive.
after reading the negative reviews here (probably posted by rival venues / promoters or just drunk idiots who got ejected for valid reasons), i'd say go down any saturday after 11pm to witness yourself a full house and happy dancefloor!
I have called and mailed this bar to arrange a private hire event for 2010 and each time I call spoken to a lady, explained my requirements and was told she needs to speak to the owner. First called in September and I have never heard back. So booked the 1920s bar instead which is a great venue if anyone is looking for one.
This bar is absolutely awful!! If you want to have a good night out in Shoreditch -AVOID this bar.
The Bouncers are the main case for concern as coming from someone who was designated driver I saw them man-handle girls who were just dancing in their way and aggressively deal with people having a good time.
Im surprised there are so many good reviews for this place as my experience was quite different.
From my point of view the biggest problem are the bouncers. They seem to be provoking far more trouble than maintaining a safe environment.
This is not really the sort of place that attracts troublemakers - ie mainly students and office workers - not chavs and yobs.
I took the decision to remain fairly sober after very early in the night I observed the bouncers being very aggressive to girls who were drunk and made the fatal mistake of getting up on a chair purely for a pic to be taken.
I saw 4-5 incidents of the bouncers exerting their authority on people who were simply enjoying themselves and causing no problems.
Speaking to people who have had a drink in an aggressive manor for no real reason to me if totally out of order.
Especially when selling is their bread and butter and then people are punished for it by the bouncers?
The drinks are over priced for a non West End venue and poor bar staff where I didnt get served in under 15mins any of the 6 times I approached the bar.
The music was good and mixed but all and all i'd never go back. I dont like places where you are scared to drink for fear of being targeted by power hungry bouncers.
And die of thirst for fairly rude bar staff. Avoid.
First impressions are lasting impressions, the bouncer (if you can call him that, the guy was very small as bouncers go) needs to be educated.
I needed to call someone to get me, then he quizzed my friend who came to get me in. He then insisted on searching me.
It gets even worse, he even searched girls’ handbags. My next encouter was the cocky barman. My friend insisted on buying me a drink.
I asked for a glenfiddich, the bar man fetched a 12yr bottle and a 15 yr bottle, he told me the 15yr was better, I replied “the 12 yr was fine” he then tried to ridicule us for buying only one shot and choosing the 12 yr, one of his replies was “its just that the 15yr is better if you can afford it!”
I asked him if he was on commision or was the owner, to which he replied “No”, I felt obliged to show the wad of notes in my wallet. Top marks for the cloakroom attendant.
Went there on Sat 28th Feb, music was amazing and lots of dancing, but it was abit hot and it isn't open til 3am like it is stated to be, shut at 2am and then there isn't really anywhere else to go. But the bar is awesome, would def go back again, bouncers are super friendly. Drinks are good prices too, good crowd.
Without a doubt the best Saturday night in Shoreditch
The resident DJ Younglee never fails to blow me away and judging by the dancing folk all around everyone else feels the same... no wondered its a packed house every saturday (they even have a live sax player who comes on later in the evening).
If you like good music that isn't your bog standard 'funky house' or 'dirty electro' this is the place for you....... can't wait to return.
People this place rocks! I celebrated my birthday in Shoreditch over the weekend. We ended up in this place and i tell you it was one of the best nights i have had EVER period. People were all cool , no hassle no bad boys looking for a fight just chilled nice people looking to make friends and have a laugh. drinks were cheapish BUT the music was the best. I have never heard Garage mixes with a sax before. it was too good! 10/10 Wicked!
I used to love the Bedroom bar, especially due to its chilled-out ambience and live saxophone. That's why I decided to have my birthday drinks there, dragging along all my friends from South and Central London. So I called up and specifically reserved an area in the back room, where it's a lot less crowded and the music not that loud. The person I spoke with confirmed that there would be a space for us 'in the back room' and asked us to be there 8:30pm-which is too early for a place like this. To my surprise, when we reached the venue, the manager firmly announced that he could not open the back room unless 40 people showed up (!!!) and instead guided us to the bed area, which is located at the very front of the club next to the DJ and the speakers!!! As a result, some of my friends left immediately, as they were not the deafening volume kind of types, and others spent quite some time trying to find us at the back rooms. The most astonishing aspect of this story was the manager's profoundly tactless attitude! Instead of offering the slightest apology, he declared that the bar has always loads of people so it wouldn't make any difference even if we never went back. In response, my partner said he would email the owner to complain, and then the dude arrogantly replied that it would be pointless, as he was going to be the one to get the email anyway.
Now, it might not make any difference to him, but it does to me, especially when it comes to spending my hard-earned money. There are thousands of good venues in London (the Strong room is just next door and Moving People opposite the street from them) so there's absolutely no reason for me to set again foot to a place where I was profoundly disrespected and laughed at.
The Bedroom Bar is a good bar but the bouncers need to crack down on all the kiddies going in there because it will end up putting people off. It would be a shame because I do like the Bedroom Bar.
