The ViewLondon Review
The Brewery Tap keeps its formula simple and successful: a decent range of beer on tap mixed with plasma screens, a great location and an over-18s policy (as opposed to the over-21 restricted entry of so many other pubs in the area) keep its feet firmly in place on the Wimbledon Village scene. The VenueSet in the heart of trendy Wimbledon Village, the Brewery Tap offers an hospitable welcome. A traditional British pub with a jukebox belting out your favourite songs and two plasma screens showing all live sporting events, it is a popular venue. The decor is tasteful with a light airy feel with a more intimate snug area for those who want to sit away from the hubbub of the bar.
The AtmosphereThe lunchtime crowd are mainly local workers and regulars, where the evening drinkers tend to lean towards the younger set. With some local pubs having an over 21s policy the Brewery Tap is cleverly cashing in on the younger punters.
The FoodThe usual pub grub is available, sandwiches start at £5.00 with a hot Pigs in blanket (Cumberland sausage with caramelised onion in an organic baguette) costing £6. Jackets are £5, starters and lights are £3, salads £9 and all the old favourites you would expect to see on a pub menu are £9. Puddings are £3.50.
The DrinkThere are plenty of beers and lagers available: Fosters, Heineken, Stella, Peeterman Artois, Adnams bitter plus another five ales, and Aspals cider. A glass of house white is £3.50 and a bottle is £13.00 for red, white or rose. Champagne is also available; Verve Clicquot Ponsardin is £45.00 a bottle.
The Last WordFor a decent drink in a pleasant traditional British pub the Brewery Tap is as good a choice as any, but with the attraction of sophisticated Wimbledon Village and the picturesque common both in close proximity the location is perfect.
