The ViewLondon Review
A cheerful old boozer with a select choice of wines and beer plus a daily food menu.
The Venue
The Burlington Arms is a fantastic old boozer at the tip of Old Burlington street. It has an impressive street frontage and highlights its big windows by keeping them uncovered.
Set across two levels, the interior walls are a deep red colour and there is a motley collection of posters, pictures and mirrors. It is all quite eclectic and energising. The bar itself is a solid wood construction with the wine list chalked-up on a blackboard next to it. Low lighting, candles in the window and dark wood floors make for a cosy, snug atmosphere.
The Atmosphere
Busy of an evening with a professional crowd who presumably work in the area, The Burlington Arms has a happy, fun atmosphere. The staff behind the bar are pleasant and there are enough of them to be sure that you are served quickly and empty glasses don't linger for long.
The Food
The Burlington Arms has a daily changing menu that shows attention to what’s in season and what is comforting for the current weather conditions. Winter brings homemade soups and pies and other delicious comfort foods. Prices are reasonable.
The Drink
Sharp's Own, and Sharp's Cornish Coaster are interesting ale choices with unconventional lager choices like Cobra and Scrumpy Jack on tap. They have a small but high quality wine list with several choices by the glass and many more by the bottle.
The Last Word
A lovely, homely, proper familiar drinking den in the depths of upmarket Mayfair. There is nothing stuffy about The Burlington Arms.
