Blonde wood floors and bleach blonde girls. The Bushranger is a popular local pub for a twenty-something set in this corner of Shepherds Bush.

The Venue
The Bushranger is long and narrow and situated just opposite Goldhawk Road tube station. It used to be all dark wood and sawdust and then a designer got to it. Now it’s all clean, modern and a bit lacking in soul. It can’t be faulted for cleanliness and it ticks all the current trend boxes for decor – acres of blonde wood and dark leather benches, high ceilings and tasteful lighting; it just needs something to give it some punch and lift it above the crowd.

The Atmosphere
The Bushranger is an after work spot for estate agents, solicitors and office juniors. It is chilled and non pretentious. The staff are friendly and serve your drinks quickly and with a smile. There is a large flat screen for when important matches are on but the high ceilings make it seem a bit empty, even when filled with people.

The Food
The Bushranger has a decent, but not exceptional, menu. They also serve breakfast; however their prices seem just a little bit steep for the area.

The Drink
The usual drink suspects are behind the bar at The Bushranger. Nothing exotic but all the basics are covered in wines, beers and spirits. There is a small cocktail menu and prices again are a little more than they should be for this location – it seems they are trying to price it as a ‘premium’ venue for the area.

The Last Word
This is a perfectly acceptable local for a young professional crowd. It could just do with a bit of colour to personalize it.
