A hundred and one years ago, the deal that gave birth to Chelsea Football Club was signed in a room above this pub. A century on and both football club and pub are top of their respective leagues, with the pub, the Butcher’s Hook, having been taken stratospherically upmarket – it is no longer the haunt of footie fans – by the dynamic young team who have taken over this previously unloved pub.
